המצווה הקל"ה
הציווי שנצטווינו להשבית עבודת האדמה בשנה שביעית.
והוא אמרו יתעלה: "בחריש ובקציר תשבת" (שמות לד, כא).
וכבר נכפל הציווי בעניין זה כמה פעמים ואמר: "שבת שבתון יהיה לארץ" (ויקרא כה, ד).
וכבר הזכרנו מקדם את דבריהם ז"ל: "האי שבתון - עשה הוא".
ואמר יתעלה עוד: "ושבתה הארץ שבת לה'" (ויקרא כה, ב).
וכבר נתבארנו דיני מצווה זו במסכת שביעית.
ואינה חובה מן התורה אלא בארץ ישראל.
The 135th mitzvah The commandment in which we were commanded to cease working the land in the seventh year. This is as He, may He be exalted, said: "In plowing and in harvesting you shall rest" (Shemos 34:21). This commandment is repeated several times on this matter, as it says: "A Sabbath of rest shall there be for the land" (Vayikra 25:4). We have already mentioned earlier the words of our Sages, of blessed memory: "This 'rest' is a positive commandment." He, may He be exalted, also said: "And the land shall rest, a Sabbath to Hashem" (Vayikra 25:2). The laws of this mitzvah have already been explained in Maseches Sheviis. It is an obligation from the Torah only in Eretz Yisroel.
