המצווה הכ"א
הציווי שנצטווינו ליראה אותו הבית הנזכר מאד מאד, עד שנקבע לו בלבנו מקום היראה והרעדה - וזו היא מוראת מקדש.
והוא אמרו יתעלה: "ומקדשי תיראו" (ויקרא יט, ל. כו, ב).
והגדרת יראה זו כמו שהזכירו בספרא:"איזה הוא מורא?
לא יכנס להר הבית במקלו ובמנעלו ובאפנדתו ובאבק שעל רגליו, ולא יעשנו קפנדריא, ורקיקה מקל וחומר".
וכבר נתבאר בכמה מקומות בתלמוד, שאסור בהחלט לשבת בעזרה, אלא למלכי בית דוד בלבד.
וכל זה לפי שאמר יתעלה: "ומקדשי תיראו".
וזו חובה לעולם, אפילו בזמן הזה שהוא חרב בעוונותינו שרבו.
ולשון ספרא:"אין לי אלא בזמן שבית המקדש קיים, בזמן שאין בית המקדש מנין?
תלמוד לומר: 'את שבתתי תשמרו ומקדשי תיראו' - מה שמירת שבת לעולם, אף מורא מקדש לעולם".
ושם אמרו עוד:"לא מן המקדש אתה ירא, אלא ממי שפקד על המקדש".
The commandment to greatly fear the mentioned House
1. The commandment we were commanded is to greatly fear that House mentioned, to the extent that a place of awe and trembling is established in our hearts for it—and this is the awe of the Mikdash.
2. And He, may He be exalted, said: "And you shall fear My Sanctuary" (Vayikra 19:30, 26:2).
3. And the definition of this awe, as mentioned in the Sifra: "What is considered awe? One should not enter the Har HaBayis with his staff, or with his shoes, or with his money belt, or with dust on his feet, and he should not make it a shortcut, and spitting is certainly forbidden."
4. And it has already been explained in several places in the Talmud that it is absolutely forbidden to sit in the Azarah, except for the kings of the House of David alone.
5. And all of this is because He, may He be exalted, said: "And you shall fear My Sanctuary."
6. And this is an obligation for all time, even in this time when it is destroyed due to our many sins.
7. And the language of the Sifra: "I would only know [the obligation applies] when the Beis HaMikdash is standing; from where do I know [it applies] when the Beis HaMikdash is not [standing]? The verse says: 'You shall keep My Sabbaths and fear My Sanctuary'—just as the keeping of Shabbos is forever, so too the awe of the Mikdash is forever."
8. And there they also said: "It is not from the Mikdash itself that you are to fear, but from the One who commanded regarding the Mikdash."
