I gratefully acknowledge receipt of volume 12 of Otzar HaPoskim, which, like its predecessors, is a collection of practical halachic rulings from the great and luminous leaders of Israel in previous generations—early authorities who are like angels—by whose light we walk in our daily lives.
As has been discussed many times: if in all generations there was a great necessity for such books, how much more so after the upheavals and exile within exile and the destruction—may G‑d spare us—of several Torah centers and the dispersal of Torah scholars to all corners of the earth amid a lack of rest and security.
This work is especially important in our days—literally these recent years—when there are those who attack our Torah, the Torah of Truth (and truth excludes compromise; there is only one truth). They prefer their own innovations; as is well known, there is a sharp saying about this: a truly genuine innovation is only when one judges according to true law—not when someone innovates contrary to what was given to Moshe at Sinai. For everything that any diligent student will ever innovate was already said to Moshe at Sinai. But those innovators—may G‑d spare us from them and their multitude—seek to innovate the opposite of what was given at Sinai.
Certainly, publicizing the teachings of halachic authorities and great leaders of Israel from previous generations will establish even these people upon the truth—the Torah of Truth—and "the word of Hashem will go forth," meaning halachah throughout all Jewish communities: practical law by which Jewish men and women everywhere will live their daily lives. This is especially vital regarding questions that require explanation and clarification; knowledge, wisdom, and truth will increase until the prophecy is fulfilled: "The earth will be filled with knowledge of Hashem as waters cover the sea."
Fortunate are all those who support this great endeavor—great in quantity but even more so in quality—for surely then future volumes of Otzar HaPoskim will appear at an accelerated pace. This is indeed what the times demand; how much better it is for it to happen sooner rather than later.
With honor and blessings for success to you and all members of the administration and everyone assisting with these books—may they be successful.
