Guidance on Student Leadership and Handling Disagreements in Yeshiva

ב"ה , י' אדר, תשל"א — ברוקלין.
The Rebbe writes that students are not sent to yeshiva to manage it, but to serve as living examples and influence others. If students cannot accept authority or communicate with administration, they should avoid disputes and transfer as students elsewhere.

Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to your letter from Wednesday, Adar 4th, with the attached — it is simple that you were not sent to the yeshiva in order to manage it, but rather to be a living example for your peers and to influence the students also through speech and so forth. Like every student in any yeshiva, you may suggest improvements (since as is known, "the heart knows its own bitterness," there are matters that the students know which the administration does not). If you cannot accept authority or even communicate with the administration at all, it is understood that there is no point in creating disputes and so forth — instead, transfer to another institution by writing (as students).

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that a student's primary role in yeshiva is to be a positive example and influence others. If cooperation with administration is impossible, one should avoid conflict and seek a peaceful solution rather than engage in disputes.
