Regarding the matter of the period of Sefirah—do those who record memories say otherwise?! See Yevamos 62b. And this is explicitly stated in the Poskim. For example, during Bein HaMetzarim there are also Shabbos days and Rosh Chodesh. And regarding your question about Leah, it is not as difficult as in the aforementioned cases, based on our sages who said that the reason was that they did not show proper respect (Yevamos ibid.), and it is obvious (according to human nature) that during times of joy—the lack of respect is less significant.
Regarding Gehinom etc.—see Rambam Hilchos Teshuvah (chapter 8, halachah 5 and onward), where it is stated that there is no way in this world to grasp it (the reward, and from this one can understand regarding its opposite—the punishment; see there). Regarding warning—even when the warning is for death literally—it is not known what the essence and quality of the pain of death actually is; rather, one tells him that the pain is beyond measure etc., and this suffices.
Which books to study—see Hilchos Talmud Torah by Admor Hazaken chapter 1 at the end, from which you will understand the answer to your question. Regarding Crown Heights—and since according to what was discussed in Adar Sheini 5729 this is a ruling in Torah law and for the benefit of the many—certainly through this there will be an increase in blessings from Hashem in all that is needed. And indeed everyone here needs Hashem's blessing. I will mention you at the Tziyun. To remain in Crown Heights—that you should receive a position here in Crown Heights.
Summary
The Rebbe clarifies halachic points about Sefirah observance and understanding spiritual matters like Gehinom. He encourages remaining in Crown Heights for communal benefit, assuring Hashem's blessings and promising to mention the individual at the Tziyun.
