I was pleased to receive the news about the upcoming dedication of your new synagogue building on the third night of Chanukah, Gimmel Chanukah this year.
When it comes to a synagogue and study hall (Beit Midrash), it means that a mikdash me'at (miniature sanctuary) has been added, bringing holiness to Jews. This is true even if there are already other synagogues of the same rite in the area; all the more so in a place where this was truly lacking.
Another point of joy is that Jews are coming together to establish this synagogue and then to celebrate its dedication. This demonstrates an inner connection to the matter with love and devotion. This also gives certain hope that the synagogue will live up to its name as a Beit Knesset—a place where Jews gather and unite in prayer to the Almighty—as such a holy place should be.
Furthermore, when together with being a synagogue it is also a Beit Midrash for regular Torah study sessions in Hashem's Torah, its influence extends into daily life even outside the four walls of the shul. Life should be according to Hashem's Torah—Torat Emet (the Torah of truth) and Torat Chaim (the Torah of life)—Torah from the word hora'ah (instruction), which brings true harmony and peace in all areas of life: peace between Jew and Jew, peace between Jew and our Father in Heaven, and personal peace for every Jew by freeing oneself from the evil inclination and inner fragmentation. Such peace is certainly the vessel for all G‑dly blessings.
Just as this dedication comes before Chanukah, may Hashem help that all matters of your shul be permeated with the spirit of Chanukah—in an ever-increasing manner of "mosif v'holech mosif v'or" (increasing and adding light)—the growing brightness of "ner mitzvah v'Torah or" (the candle is a mitzvah and Torah is light).
