, אין זה מן הנוהג אצלי כלל להשתתף בקובצים וכדומה, ואתו הסליחה.
לאידך, בודאי ידוע למר שיש כמה מכתבים ממני שיצאו בהזדמנויות שונות ישר – כביטוי במכתבו – לאחד מגדולי היהודים בדורנו, אלא שבזה, כמובן, עליו לפנות ישר אל מקבל המכתב.
אף כי מאז נפגשנו אישית לא שמעתי מכ' באופן ישר, תקותי אשר הכל בסדר אצל מר, וסדרו של איש היהודי הריהו מתאים
להוראת
תורתנו, תורת חיים, להיות מוסיף והולך בטוב וישר ובקודש מזמן לזמן.

In response to your letter in which you write about the book you are preparing for publication and suggest that I participate in this collection with words or a letter, etc. As is known, it is not my practice at all to participate in such collections and the like, and I ask your forgiveness.
On the other hand, surely you know that there are several letters from me that have been published on various occasions directly—as you put it in your letter—to one of the great Jews of our generation; however, in this case, of course, you must approach the recipient of the letter directly.
Although since we last met personally I have not heard from you directly, I hope that everything is well with you and that your conduct as a Jewish individual aligns with the teachings of our Torah, a Torah of life—to continually increase in goodness and uprightness and in holiness from time to time.
