בעתו הודיעו לי על דבר פניתו לאישים ומוסדות שונים בארץ ישראל בקשר עם ההצהרה שניתנה באייר ה'תש"ח לאחר מלחמת השיחרור, ואשר כ' ראה שעת כושר אחר מלחמת ששת הימים לתקן את המעוות, ובלשונו במכתבו – שלא נכנסו בה אי-אילו ביטויים של יהדות וכו'.
ומאז לא שמעתי דבר בזה, לא באופן ישיר ואף לא באופן אחר.
ברם מוכרחני להודות שאין לי תימה על חוסר תגובה מתאימה בזה, שהרי לכאורה הסיבות שגרמו אז שלא נכנסו הביטויים כו' גם עתה בתוקפם ואולי עוד יותר.

הזמן מתאים כלל וכלל לדבר בעניני בני ישראל כהנ"ל כי אם בטובת בני ישראל ובזכות בני ישראל. בכל זה, באם נתחדש משהו בזה וכ' ימצא פנאי להודיעני, תודתי נתונה לו מראש.
ולקראת השנה החדשה הבאה עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה ולברכה, הנני בזה להביע ברכתי, לו ולכל אשר לו, ברכת כתיבה וחתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה בגשמיות וברוחניות.

In due course I was informed about your approach to various individuals and institutions in Eretz Yisrael regarding the declaration made in Iyar 5708 after the War of Independence, and that you saw an opportune moment after the Six-Day War to correct what was lacking—in your words in your letter: that certain expressions of Judaism were not included, etc. Since then I have not heard anything about this matter, neither directly nor otherwise.
However, I must admit that I am not surprised by the lack of appropriate response in this matter, for seemingly the reasons that prevented those expressions from being included then are still valid now—perhaps even more so.
The time is not at all suitable to speak about such matters concerning the Jewish people as above, but rather about the welfare of the Jewish people and their merit.
Nevertheless, if anything new has developed in this matter and you find time to inform me, my thanks are extended to you in advance.
As we approach the new year that is coming upon us and all Israel for good and blessing, I hereby express my blessing to you and all yours: may you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year both materially and spiritually.
