בשמחה ובתענוג מיוחד קבלתי מכתבו מעש"ק פ' ראה, בצירוף העתק הסמיכה והורמנא דרבנן שקבל בארץ הקודש. ובפרט שנוסח הסמיכה הוא בכמה הוספות על נוסח הרגיל של סמיכה, זאת אומרת שהמסמיכים מצאו בהמוסמך מעלות וענינים יותר על הרגיל בין מקבלי סמיכה.

מי שיש לו מנה רוצה מאתים, מאתים רוצה ד' מאות. כמובן כוונתי בזה בנוגע לידיעת התורה וכולי, וכפי שדברנו בהיותו כאן.
ובודאי ידועה לו השקפתי בזה, וגם בלעדי זאת, אשר מוכרחת גם כן ידיעה בפנימיות התורה, אשר בדורנו נתגלתה בתורת החסידות; ועוד יותר בדורנו דור יתום של חשך כפול ומכופל. ובפרט מוכרחת ידיעה האמורה בכל אלו שחוננו בכשרון השפעה בסביבתם, שהשפעה אמתית הרי היא כשכובשים את המח וגם את הלב של הזקוק להשפעה, שלזה מוכרחת הגישה אל הלב מתוך חיות והתלהבות וכולי, שכל אלו באים בעיקר מלימוד תורת החסידות ומחיים על פי דרכה. ויהי רצון שגם בזה יצליח ויבשר טוב.

שחודש אלול ועשרת ימי תשובה המה הימים שיש להרבות בהם בעניני עבודה שבלב היא תפילה, אפילו לאלו שעיקרם בכל השנה הוא לימוד התורה. והרי ענין התפילה כפס"ד מפורש בשו"ע (או"ח סי' צ"ח) תנאי והקדמה בעבודת התפילה כדרוש היא התבוננות בגדלות הבורא ושפלות האדם, שכל זה הוא מתוכן תורת החסידות.

Shalom u'Vrachah! With special joy and pleasure I received your letter from Parshat Re'eh, along with a copy of your semicha and rabbinic ordination received in Eretz HaKodesh. Especially since the wording of your semicha includes several additions beyond the usual text, meaning that those granting semicha found in you greater qualities and matters than are typical among recipients.
May it be G‑d's will that just as Hashem helped you to advance in Torah knowledge up to practical halachic ruling, it should be fulfilled in you what our Sages said: "One who has one hundred desires two hundred; if he has two hundred he desires four hundred." Of course my intention is regarding Torah knowledge etc., as we discussed when you were here.
Surely you know my view on this matter—and even without that—it is also necessary to have knowledge in the inner dimension of Torah, which in our generation has been revealed through Chassidus; all the more so in our generation—a generation orphaned by double and redoubled darkness.
Especially necessary is such knowledge for all those endowed with the ability to influence their surroundings. True influence is when one conquers both the mind and also the heart of those needing influence. For this, access to the heart is required—through vitality and enthusiasm—which mainly come from studying Chassidus and living according to its path. May it be G‑d's will that you succeed in this as well and bring good news.
A special segulah for these days—even regarding what was mentioned above—as explained by later authorities: The month of Elul and the Ten Days of Teshuvah are days when one should increase matters of service of the heart—that is, prayer—even for those whose main focus all year is Torah study. The matter of prayer—as explained explicitly in Shulchan Aruch (Orach Chaim siman 98)—is that a condition and prerequisite for proper prayer is contemplation on the greatness of the Creator and man's lowliness—all this being content from Chassidus.
Blessings for good news in all the above, and with blessings for a good inscription and sealing.
