בעתו קבלתי מכתבם בו כותבים
על
דבר השאלה דהקמת חזית דתית טכנית באה"ק ת"ו. ואתם רב הסליחה על העיכוב במענה שלי. והסיבה לזה היא שרציתי לקבל ידיעות עד כמה שאפשר על דבר הסכויים בזה, וממקורות שונים,
ואחר
עד עתה.
ועל פי הידיעות האחרונות שהגיעו אלי ואשר קבלתי עליהן אישור גם מן הצדדין, המצב בזה באה"ק ת"ו הוא על דרך שהי' קודם הבחירות האחרונות שם, והלואי שהתוצאות תהיינה אחרות משהיו אז כשלא נתקיימה החזית. ובאמת אין פלא שלא חל שינוי בהמצב, כי אותם האנשים שהחליטו אז נגד החזית הם גם הקובעים עתה את מהלך הענינים בזה, וכן הסיבות שהניעו אותם למנוע חזית אז קיימות גם עתה. וחבל חבל שלא רוצים ללמוד לקח מהכשלון בבחירות האחרונות, וגם שלא רוצים ללמוד מן השנויים שחלו מאז ועד הנה.
וכמו
שכתבתי בשעת הבחירות ההן – אם לא יהי' לחץ ציבורי הכי גדול וחד-משמעי שיראו שמתכַונים ברציניות, הרי לדאבוננו הכי גדול הסכויים בזה כמו שהיו אז.
מובן שאיני מתיאש ח"ו, שהרי זהו היפך גישת היהדות לכל דבר טוב שנתקל בקושיים, ובפרט בדבר כה רציני כהקמת חזית דתית
טכנית
[ואני מדגיש "טכנית", היינו אך ורק לשם הבחירות, כי דעתי ברורה שכמו שהוא מוכרח בעד הבחירות כן מוכרח הוא שלא יהי' איחוד המפלגות לאחר הבחירות, ומכמה וכמה טעמים]. ובלי נדר – מצדי אשתדל לעשות כל האפשר למען הקמת חזית דתית טכנית האמורה, ובודאי גם "ישראל הצעיר" ינצלו כל השפעתם להגשמת הרעיון כאמור במכתבם. אבל הזמן ללחוץ – הוא סמוך להבחירות.

May Hashem be upon you for life. Shalom u'Vrachah! In due time I received your letter in which you write about the question of establishing a technical religious front in Bnei Brak. Please forgive the delay in my response. The reason is that I wanted to gather as much information as possible about the prospects in this matter, from various sources, and only now have I done so.
According to the latest information I have received—confirmed by different parties—the situation regarding this matter in Bnei Brak is similar to what it was before the last elections there. Hopefully, the results will be different than they were then when the front was not established. In truth, it is no wonder that there has been no change in the situation, because those who decided then against forming a front are also now determining how things proceed; likewise, the reasons that motivated them to prevent a front then still exist now.
It is unfortunate that people do not want to learn from the failure of the last elections, nor from the changes that have occurred since then until now. As I wrote at the time of those elections—if there is not the greatest and most unequivocal public pressure showing serious intent, then unfortunately, the prospects are as they were then.
Of course, I am not giving up—G‑d forbid—as this is contrary to Judaism's approach toward any good endeavor that encounters difficulties, especially something as serious as establishing a technical religious front (and I emphasize "technical," meaning solely for election purposes; my view is clear that just as it is necessary for elections, it is equally necessary that there should not be party unification after elections—for many reasons).
Bli neder—from my side I will try to do everything possible for establishing such a technical religious front as mentioned above. Certainly Yisrael HaTzair will also use all their influence to realize this idea as stated in your letter. But the time to apply pressure is close to the elections.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches persistence and strategic timing when facing communal challenges: even if circumstances seem unchanged and obstacles remain, one must not give up but rather act decisively at opportune moments for positive outcomes.
