This year's celebration of the central Yeshiva Tomchei Temimim Lubavitch also marks the seventieth anniversary since the founding of the first Yeshiva Tomchei Temimim in Lubavitch.

It is written: Zot HaTorah – Adam ("This is the Torah – man"), which indicates that a Jew and Torah are one entity. Similarly, a Torah institution in many respects resembles a Jew: both undergo exile, wanderings, and experiences until the intention of Divine Providence is fulfilled.

Seventy years is a period in human life—Yemei Shnoteinu Bahem Shiv'im Shanah ("Our days among them are seventy years")—so that after this begins a new period, the period of Gevurot Shemonim Shanah ("strengths of eighty years"). The Lubavitcher Yeshiva has completed its seventy-year period, which was one of the most difficult and turbulent periods in Jewish exile. Yet by the grace of Hashem Yitbarach, today the Lubavitcher Yeshiva stands at the center of a chain of Lubavitcher yeshivot in many parts of the world, at a peak of development and creativity. It is clearly evident that they are fulfilling their mission and purpose according to the vision and assurance of its great and holy founders—the mission to educate talmidim temimim (students who are whole), in Torat Hashem Temima (the complete Torah), to be nerot le'ha'ir (lights that shine and illuminate) with the brightness of Ner Mitzvah v'Torah Or (the candle is mitzvah and Torah is light), both from Nigleh HaTorah (the revealed part) and Penimiut HaTorah (the inner dimension), illuminating the path toward Mashiach Tzidkeinu.

Now Yeshivat Tomchei Temimim enters a new era; as with all matters of Torah and holiness, this means an elevation to an even higher level—ma'alin bakodesh (ascending in holiness).

It is to be hoped that all friends of Yeshivat Tomchei Temimim Lubavitch will know how to appreciate this historic moment—a conclusion and beginning—in the glorious history of this unique Torah institution, which is one of the strongest pillars in Jewish life.

It is also hoped that all friends and supporters—and especially those active on behalf of the yeshiva—will know how to appreciate the great merit they have as partners in Tomchei Temimim's achievements. May this partnership—the historic partnership of Yissachar and Zevulun—be strengthened and expanded to its fullest extent in this new era of strength into which the Lubavitcher Yeshiva now enters.

May Hashem grant you all together—and each individually—success in this mentioned partnership, thereby blessing you with everything needed materially and spiritually.
