To the vavac"h iy"a nu"n bachur me'am u'muram me'am v'doresh tov l'amo ba'al middot terumiyot anaf etz avot Moreinu HaRav Shneor Zalman shlita
Shalom u'Vrachah!
I was glad to learn just now that your home was not harmed by the bombings, etc. Therefore my hope is strong—and all the more so—regarding you and your entire family, shlita, that you are all safe and well.
May it be G‑d's will that this should be fulfilled regarding you and also regarding all our brothers Bnei Yisrael shlita in Eretz HaKodesh (the Holy Land) may it be rebuilt and established, and wherever they are. Our Sages have taught (Bava Batra 12b) that when one receives good, it is certain that this will continue with further goodness—both materially and spiritually together.
It is understood and obvious that this includes—and first of all—in the language of the verse: "VaYar Yisrael et haYad haGedolah asher asah Hashem b'Mitzrayim" (And Israel saw the great hand which G‑d had wrought in Egypt) and their helpers; He delivered many into the hands of few who went with mesirus nefesh (self-sacrifice) to "help Israel from the hand of an oppressor who came upon them." Then it is certain—absolutely—that there will be as at the conclusion of the well-known thanksgiving (as each one should increase in Torah and mitzvos together with gratitude from all to the Source of miracles)—to thank and praise Your great Name.
These days are auspicious—the beginning of the third month—and days of preparation and boundaries for Matan Torah (the giving of the Torah) and receiving the Torah—a Torah of life—a living Torah. In a saying we heard from my father-in-law, the Rebbe: "A Torah that brings life—a life worthy of its name." These are days when Bnei Yisrael were chosen to be a treasured nation from among all peoples—a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.
With blessing—in the traditional wording—for receiving the Torah with joy and inwardness—with proper health—with honor and esteem—from one who awaits good news,
M. Schneersohn
Summary
The Rebbe writes about gratitude for safety during difficult times in Eretz Yisrael, encourages trust in ongoing Divine protection, and highlights these days as a special opportunity to prepare spiritually for receiving the Torah with joy and depth.
