במענה למכתבו מכ"א מנ"א, בו כותב אשר לאחרונה אין רואים כל כך הצלחה במצבם ובעניניהם.
ובכלל בנוגע לעניני בני ובנות ישראל, הרי הוספה במילוי רצונו של הקב"ה, ע"י הוספה בלימוד התורה וקיום מצותי' בחיי היום יומים, מוסיפה בברכת השם בהמצטרך לאדם ולביתו, בפרנסה ובנחת מילדים ובכל עניניו. ובעניני טוב וקדושה תורה ומצותי', הרי ככל שיהי' המצב גם טוב בזה, תמיד יש מקום להוסיף, כיון שקשורים בהקב"ה שהוא אין סופי.
ומובן שהאמור הוא כולל גם כן התחזקות בבטחון בהשם ית' המשגיח על כל אחד ואחת בהשגחה פרטית, והרי על זה נאמר, ה' רועי (כשיתבונן ויתנהג מתאים לזה, אז) לא אחסר.
ומהנכון אשר יבדקו את התפילין שלו וכן את המזוזות בדירתם שתהיינה כולן כשרות כדין - באם לא נבדקו בשנים עשר חדש האחרונים - ובכל יום חול קודם הנחת התפילין להפריש פרוטות אחדות לצדקה.

In response to your letter from the 21st of Menachem Av, in which you write that recently you have not seen much success in your situation and affairs.
In general, regarding matters of the sons and daughters of Israel: increasing the fulfillment of the will of the Holy One Blessed be He—by adding to Torah study and mitzvah observance in daily life—increases Hashem's blessing in what a person and his household need: livelihood, satisfaction from children, and all matters.
And regarding good and holy matters—Torah and mitzvos—no matter how good the situation is, there is always room to add, since they are connected to the Holy One Blessed be He Who is infinite.
It is understood that this also includes strengthening trust in Hashem Yisborach Who watches over each individual with Divine Providence. As it is said: 'Hashem Ro'i (when one contemplates this and acts accordingly), lo echsar' ("Hashem is my shepherd [when one contemplates this and acts accordingly], I shall lack nothing").
It is proper that you check your tefillin as well as the mezuzos in your home to ensure they are all kosher according to halachah—if they have not been checked within the past twelve months—and every weekday before putting on tefillin set aside a few coins for tzedakah.
