מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מג' טבת והקודם לו, ות"ח ת"ח על ידיעתו מחלוקת מעות חנוכה לתלמידים וההסברה שנתן להם, ויה"ר אשר יפעלו הדברים בהנוגע לחיי היום יומים בפועל.
ב) שמחתי לקבל ידיעה שיש תקוה שקבוצת תלמידים מאשכנז יבואו ללמוד להישיבה בפאריז, ולפלא שאינו מזכיר דבר עד"ז במכתבו, ובודאי עושה בזה במרץ המתאים והשי"ת יצליחם, וידוע פתגם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע טובה פעולה אחת מאלף אנחות, וכדאי הי' לפרסם שם הישיבה ע"י השדרי"ם ובכל האופנים שאפשר ושמקבלים תלמידים לישיבתם וכו' כי הרי סו"ס יש כמה תלמידים מהישיבות באנגליא ובאנטעווערפען וכו' וכמו שכתב כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר באחד ממכתביו שכשמעמידים פנס ברחוב חשכת הלילה מתקבצים סביבותיו, הרי עאכו"כ כשמעמידים מאור שבתורה זוהי תורת החסידות ברחוב, בודאי יתקבצו סביבו, אלא שאלה שלע"ע נמצאים ברחוב אחר צריכים להודיעם עד"ז באותיות כאלו שיגיע אליהם...

I acknowledge receipt of your letter from the 3rd of Teves and the one before it. Many thanks for informing me about the distribution of Chanukah gelt to the students and for the explanation you gave them. May it be G‑d's will that these actions have a practical effect on their daily lives.
2) I was glad to receive news that there is hope a group of students from Ashkenaz will come to study at the yeshiva in Paris. It is surprising you did not mention this in your letter; surely you are working on this with appropriate energy and may Hashem grant you success. It is known that my father-in-law, the Rebbe, of blessed memory, would say: "One action is better than a thousand sighs." It would be worthwhile to publicize the yeshiva through emissaries and by every possible means, making it known that they accept students. After all, there are already several students from yeshivas in England and Antwerp, etc., and as my father-in-law wrote in one of his letters: when a lantern is placed on a dark street at night, people gather around it; how much more so when a light of Torah—namely Chassidus—is placed in public; certainly people will gather around it. The only issue is that those who are still on another street need to be informed in such a way that it reaches them...
