Shalom u'Vrachah!
... Regarding what you wrote about wedding arrangements—in general, I am not at all pleased with wasting money on things like renting a hall and other such expenses that have no benefit whatsoever, not even a material one. Even though our Sages greatly emphasized the joy of a bride and groom and how everyone is obligated in this, it is clearly seen that the joy is greater when the wedding is not held in an official hall whose cost is a fortune, but rather when the wedding is done in a simpler manner—'the more straightforward, the better.' However, it is also understood that in any case it is necessary to arrange matters specifically in pleasant ways and with the full agreement of both sides; in this too, the opinion and wishes of the women should be considered—and this is clear. This is also evident from Chassidic teachings about how one dances before the bride specifically.
With blessing for good news in all the above.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that weddings should avoid unnecessary expenses and focus on true joy through simplicity. Still, all arrangements must be made pleasantly and with mutual consent—especially considering women's wishes—reflecting both practical wisdom and Chassidic values.
