מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו בצירוף ספרו קיצור דרכי תשובה, ות"ח ת"ח על הספר, אשר רוב עמל השקיע בו וגם חכמה יש בזה כמובן וגם פשוט.
ויהי רצון, אשר עוד רבות בשנים ירבה חיילים לאורייתא גופא דאורייתא ונשמתא דאורייתא (זח"ג קנ[ב], א), וכמו שמרמז בהפתיחה אשר ידו נטוי' לחזור ולהדפיס כתבי האריז"ל הארי החי.
ואם בכלל בדורות האחרונים הדגישו רז"ל וחז"ל גודל ההכרח בלימוד פנימיות התורה, ובדורנו בפרט לאחרי גילוי המאור של הבעש"ט ז"ל שנתגלתה בתורת החסידות בהסבר הכי גדול, ההכרח גדול במאד מאד (יעוין בפירוש וכפל הלשון מאד בלקו"ת לרבנו הזקן, בעל התניא והשו"ע, פ' שלח, נו, א. נו, ג).
וכיון שמוכרח הדבר, בודאי שניתנו היכולת והאפשריות ללמוד להבין בהבנה והשגה דוקא, וכמבואר בכ"מ דיוק הלשון בזהר הק' למטעם ולמסבר וכו', ובפרט ע"פ אגרת הקדש של הבעש"ט ז"ל, לכשיפוצו מעינותיו, קאתי מר דא מלכא משיחא, והרי השנה היא שנת המאתים להסתלקות הילולא של הבעש"ט ז"ל.

I acknowledge receipt of your letter along with your book "Kitzur Darkei Teshuvah," and thank you very much for the book. It is clear that you invested much effort in it, and it is evident and obvious that there is also wisdom in it.
May it be G‑d's will that for many more years you increase strength in Torah—both the body of Torah and the soul of Torah (Zohar III 152a)—as is hinted in your introduction where you express your intent to reprint the writings of the Arizal, "the living Ari."
If in general, in recent generations our Sages have emphasized the great necessity to study Penimius HaTorah, then especially in our generation—after the revelation of the light by the Baal Shem Tov z"l which was revealed in Chassidus with the greatest explanation—the necessity is exceedingly great (see at length and on the repetition of "very" in Likkutei Torah by our master, author of Tanya and Shulchan Aruch, Parshas Shelach 56a, 56c).
And since this is necessary, certainly the ability and possibility were given to study and understand it specifically with comprehension—as explained in many places regarding the precise language in Zohar HaKadosh about tasting and understanding, etc.—especially according to Iggeres HaKodesh of the Baal Shem Tov z"l: when his wellsprings will spread forth, then "the master will come," meaning King Moshiach. And this year marks two hundred years since the passing (yahrtzeit) of the Baal Shem Tov z"l.
