מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מיום הרביעי עם המצורף אליו.
ובעת רצון אזכירו על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע להטבת מצב בריאותו ולהצלחת הטפול הרפואי לרפואה קרובה.
וכמו שנדבר בביקורו כאן, הנה ככל שיתוסף בבטחונו בהשי"ת הרופא כל בשר ומפליא לעשות ומשגיח על כאו"א בהשגחה פרטית, בודאי שיתוסף בברכתו בהאמור, וכמו שאנו מבקשים ופועלים מבעל הברכות, כנוסח התפלה, הטוב לנו, בטוב הנראה והנגלה.
נתעכבתי מלדבר או לכתוב ע"ד הבא לקמן עד עתה מכמה טעמים, אבל כיון שכת"ר שי' מסיים במכתבו, בבקשה לייעץ לו שיקבל עליו בל"נ איזה תיקון.
הרי ע"פ המבואר מכ"ק אדמו"ר הצמח צדק [דהלכה כמותו בכל מקום, ובפרט בהנוגע לאנ"ש ואלו שזכו ליהנות מאור תורת החסידות] ברשימותיו על תהלות נעים זמירות ישראל, על הכתוב, והוא רחום, אות ד' אשר בלשונו שם, י"ג תקוני הזקן כו' נמשך כו' רחמים גדולים וכו', ומכח התקוני דיקנא ממתיק וכו' נעשה נעים וממותק וכו'.
מהנכון במאד מאד, שמכאן ולהבא יתנהג באופן האמור שם, בהנוגע לפאות הזקן, ובפרט ע"פ המבואר בשו"ת הצ"צ גם ע"פ נגלה, ויעשו כל ענינים נעימים וממותקים, וכנ"ל באופן הנראה ונגלה, ובפרט שיהי' בענין גם ענין של קידוש השם, וזכות הרבים מסייעתו.
בברכה לבשורות טובות בכל האמור, ואשר מחדש כסלו זה וכעניניו, יהי' בכל עניני כת"ר הוא וב"ב שי' באופן דמוסיף והולך מוסיף ואור, ובזה גם הפצת עניני יהדות בכל מקום שידו מגעת וגם חוצה, שהרי מצות החדש בנר חנוכה דמוסיף והולך משתשקע החמה ועל פתח ביתו מבחוץ.

I acknowledge receipt of your letter from Wednesday with its enclosure. At an auspicious time I will mention you at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal, for improvement in your health and success in your medical treatment for a speedy recovery.
As we discussed during your visit here: The more you increase your trust in Hashem—the healer of all flesh Who works wonders and watches over each individual with Divine Providence—certainly His blessing will increase regarding this matter. As we request and effect from the Source of blessings, as in the prayer text: "the One Who is good to us, with visible and revealed good."
I have delayed speaking or writing about what follows until now for several reasons. But since you conclude your letter by asking for advice about accepting some rectification without a vow (bli neder), I will respond. Based on what is explained by my father-in-law the Rebbe tzt"z [whose halachic rulings are followed everywhere, especially regarding Anash and those privileged to benefit from the light of Chassidus] in his notes on Tehillim—on the verse "VeHu Rachum," section dalet—where he writes: "the thirteen attributes of mercy associated with the beard draw down great mercy... through these beard attributes sweetness is drawn... things become pleasant and sweetened." It is therefore very proper that from now on you conduct yourself as stated there regarding the corners of the beard—especially as explained in tzt"z's responsa also according to Nigleh—so that all matters become pleasant and sweetened as above, visibly and tangibly. Especially since this also involves sanctifying G‑d's name publicly, and the merit of many assists him.
Blessings for good news in all matters mentioned above. May this Kislev bring renewal; may all your affairs—and those of your family—be ever-increasingly illuminated, including spreading Judaism wherever possible—even outward. After all, the mitzvah of renewal expressed by Chanukah candles is to increase light after sunset at one's doorway facing outward.
