In response to your message regarding your birthday: Certainly you have followed the custom of Anash in recent times on your birthday. May it be the will of Hashem that this year will be one of success for you both materially and spiritually, and may you increase in Torah study and mitzvah observance with abundance.

It is surprising what you wrote that in the matter of learning and spreading Torah there is no change—for we have been commanded to always ascend in holiness. Especially according to the words of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, that in our times—each person is like one climbing a very steep mountain where standing still is impossible; one must either ascend or descend. This can also be explained by our Sages' saying that the generation when Mashiach comes will be entirely meritorious or entirely liable. And this is sufficient for understanding.
