במענה למכתבו מיום הבהיר ח"י אלול, יום שנתלו בו שני המאורות הגדולים, יום הולדת מורנו הבעל שם טוב ויום הולדת כ"ק רבנו הזקן.
בו כותב ע"פ בקשת הורים בהנוגע לבנם שי' אשר פסק לדבר ולאחרי כמה טפולים שלא הועילו עשו טפול בעצמות העורף ונראית הטבה, ושואלים באם להמשיך בזה וכו'.
והנה כפי הנראה מהמלות ספורות שכותב, אודות הטפול הרי זוהי שיטה שכמה רופאים התחילו להשתמש בה לאחרונה, וקורין לה קיראפראקטיקע, ז.א. שאין בזה כל ענין סגולי וכו' גם לדעתם, וכן לדעת החולקים עליהם, והחילוקי דיעות הוא רק במדת התועלת שבדבר ותו לא, שבזה לכאורה מענה על השאלה האם מותר ללכת לאותו שטפל בזה.
בכ"ז הרי אין מעניני לפסוק דינים ובפרט בהעדר כמה פרטים, ולכן יפנו לרב מורה הוראה בסביבתם לאחר שידועים יהיו לו הפרטים בהנוגע להטפול.
בעצם הדבר באם מותר, אם כדאי ללכת עוד פעם, הרי כיון שרואים הטבה, כדאי להמשיך בזה.
ולכשיודיעו השם של הבן בצירוף שם האם שלו, יזכירוהו על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע להמצטרך לו ויהי רצון שכשם שהביא הבקשה כן יבשר טוב בזה.
ובטח ימצא אותיות מתאימות ומסבירות להורי הנער, אשר עליהם להוסיף בעניני תורה ומצות, והרי ככל שיהי' גם המצב טוב בזה, הרי תמיד יש מקום להוסיף עדו, מאחר שקשורים בהקב"ה שהוא אין סופי, ושעי"ז מתוסף בברכות השי"ת בהמצטרך לאדם ולביתו.

In response to your letter from the bright day of 18 Elul, the day on which two great luminaries were hung—the birthdays of our teacher the Baal Shem Tov and the birthday of our Rebbe the Alter Rebbe. In it you write, at the request of parents, regarding their son who stopped speaking and after several treatments that did not help, they performed a treatment on the neck bones and improvement was seen. You ask whether to continue this treatment, etc.
From the few words you write about the treatment, it appears this is a method that several doctors have recently begun using and call it chiropractic—meaning there is nothing mystical about it even according to them, as well as according to those who disagree with them. The only disagreement is regarding its effectiveness and nothing more. This would seem to answer your question whether it is permissible to go to the one who performed this treatment.
Nevertheless, it is not my place to rule on halachic matters—especially when several details are missing—so you should consult a local rabbinic authority after he knows all the details regarding the treatment.
As for whether it is permissible or advisable to go again: since improvement has been seen, it is worthwhile to continue.
When you inform me of the son's name together with his mother's name, he will be mentioned at the holy resting place of my revered father-in-law the Rebbe zatzal for what he needs. May it be G‑d's will that just as you brought this request, so too you will bring good news in this matter.
Certainly you will find appropriate and clear words for the boy's parents—that they should increase in matters of Torah and mitzvos; for even when things are going well in this regard there is always room to add more since we are connected with Hashem Who is infinite. Through this increase in Torah and mitzvos there will also be an increase in Hashem's blessings in all that a person and his household need.
