Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter from Sunday. I was pleased to read that you participated in the farbrengen on the bright day of Yud-Tes Kislev, Rosh Hashanah for the teachings and ways of Chassidus. May it be G‑d's will that you also fulfill the purpose of every farbrengen—that it should have an effect and its impression should be felt throughout the days, weeks, and months that follow, leading to practical action as it is written: "Et HaElokim Yera Ve'et Mitzvotav Shmor Ki Zeh Kol HaAdam" (Fear G‑d and keep His commandments for this is all of man).
Regarding your question about how to strengthen prayer: It is already ruled in Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim siman 98:2 and in the Rama that before every prayer—that is, three times a day—one must contemplate G‑d's greatness and also man's lowliness [even though it is understood that the nature of this contemplation is not equal before morning prayer at the start of the day (which is longer), as opposed to Minchah and Maariv; for this reason Pesukei DeZimrah were instituted at length in the morning etc.]. Also, one should pray from a siddur. If the yeshiva schedule does not allow for contemplation on every word each day, then it is proper and good that at least on one matter or one verse he should contemplate each day—and obviously on different verses on different days—so that over time there will be contemplation on all sections and parts of prayer. Additionally, our sages instructed to give charity before praying as it says: "Ani BeTzedek—Azai—Echezeh Panecha" (Through righteousness I shall behold Your face).
As explained in several books, care with immersion according to Ezra applies especially and has a great impact on one's manner and level of prayer—to such an extent that even though by strict law immersion according to Ezra was annulled, Rav Hai Gaon (the last of the Geonim and foremost among them) held this only regarding Torah study but not regarding prayer (see R"Y cited by Rif Berachot ch. 3; he concludes there that even if it is not strictly required by halachah etc., all agree that prayer is more accepted with immersion; much has been written about this in Kabbalistic and Chassidic works as well as ethical texts).
Certainly you know and observe the three daily shiurim of Chitas (Chumash, Tehillim, Tanya), or at least will keep them from now on. May you have good news regarding all these matters.
With blessing.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that meaningful prayer comes from daily contemplation of G‑d's greatness and humility before Him, giving charity beforehand, maintaining immersion where possible, and keeping up with daily Chitas study—all leading to lasting positive impact.
