במענה למכתבו מצום העשירי, יהפך לששון ולשמחה בקרוב, בו כותב ע"ד לימודו עם כתת תלמידים דישיבת תומכי תמימים ב... ואשר בשביל זה כמעט לא למד כלום בשביל עצמו.
ומובנת התמי' הכי גדולה, הכי לימוד עם כתת תלמידים שוללת אפשרית לימוד בפ"ע, ובפרט שכותב שהם צעירים, שהכנה ללימוד, אף כי מוכרחת היא לכל לימוד וכידוע מרז"ל [וכנודע מרבותינו נשיאינו ואפילו לאמירת מפטיר וכיו"ב], אבל הזמן הדרוש על הכנה מתאימה בהנ"ל, מצער היא בכמות, והלואי שילמוד כל הזמן הפנוי מלימוד עם התלמידים, בשביל עצמו.
בגוף השאלה, אם ימשיך ללמוד, הרי זה תלוי בהתוצאות: אם הצליח בתלמידיו מובן שיש להמשיך בזה, והשי"ת ינחהו בכל האמור בטוב לפניו בכל הפרטים.

In response to your letter from the Tenth Fast—may it soon be transformed to joy and gladness—in which you write about your learning with a class of students from the Tomchei Temimim Yeshivah in..., and that because of this you have almost not learned anything for yourself.
The great wonder is obvious: does learning with a class of students prevent the possibility of personal study? Especially since you write that they are young, and while preparation for learning is necessary for every study—as is known from our Sages (and as is known from our Rebbeim, even for saying Maftir and similar matters)—the time required for proper preparation in this case is minimal. It would be good if you could use all the free time left after teaching the students for your own study.
Regarding the main question—whether to continue teaching—this depends on the results: if you have succeeded with your students, it is understood that you should continue. May Hashem guide you in all these matters for good in every detail.

Summary
The Rebbe teaches that teaching others does not exclude personal growth; one should strive to use available time for self-study while continuing to teach if it benefits the students. Evaluation should be done together with school leadership.
