במענה למכתבו, שנתאחר המענה - מפני חדש תשרי ועניניו שאין הזמן גרמא לזה.
ותקותי חזקה אשר ממשיך בלימוד תורת הנגלה ותורת החסידות, ומתרגל יותר מזמן לזמן עם חבריו שי' ובסדרי הישיבה בכלל.
מוחזר בזה המכתב ששלח אלי, ומובן שמהנכון ביותר שלא יכנס בוויכוחים, כי מה תועלת בטענות ומענות, והרי תפקיד האדם ללמוד לשמור לעשות ולקיים כמצוה עלינו בתורת אלקים חיים, ומובן גם כן שאין צריך להיות ח"ו במחלוקת עם מי שהוא, כי אם לבאר שרוצה ללכת בדרך התורה והמצוה, וכאלפים הלומדים בישיבות ליובאוויטש ובשאר ישיבות הן באה"ק ת"ו והן בחו"ל לומדים לימודי קדש כל היום כולו ועשו כזה בתקופה שלפני זו ובדור שלפני התקופה, וכשבא הזמן והעת מסתדר ג"כ בענין של פרנסה, ובטוח נותן התורה והמצוה שהוא הזן ומפרנס את העולם כולו בטובו בחן ובחסד וברחמים, אשר יקיים הבטחתו, אם בחקתי תלכו (ופירשו רז"ל, שתהיו עמלים בתורה) ואת מצותי תשמרו וגו' ונתתי וגו' ככל הברכות המנויות בפרשה וההצלחה בכל המצטרך לאדם.
ויהי רצון שיצליח בלימודו, לימוד התורה וקיום המצות וילך מחיל אל חיל, ותקותי חזקה גם כן שסוף סוף גם הוריו שי' ישבעו נחת מהנהגתו, ויהי רצון שיהי' זה בהקדם.

In response to your letter—my reply was delayed due to the month of Tishrei and its matters, which left no time for this. My strong hope is that you are continuing in the study of Nigleh Torah and Chassidus, and are increasingly accustoming yourself from time to time with your friends (may they live) and with the general order of the yeshivah.
I am returning herewith the letter you sent me. It is clear that it is best not to enter into arguments, for what benefit is there in claims and counterclaims? A person's task is to learn, observe, do, and fulfill as commanded in the Torah of the living G‑d. It is also understood that there should not be, G‑d forbid, any dispute with anyone; rather, one should simply explain that he wishes to follow the path of Torah and mitzvah. Just as thousands studying in Lubavitch yeshivos and other yeshivos—both in Eretz HaKodesh (the Holy Land) may it be rebuilt and abroad—study holy subjects all day long; this was done in previous periods and generations as well. When the time comes for earning a livelihood, things also work out accordingly. Surely the Giver of Torah and mitzvahs—Who sustains and provides for the entire world with His goodness, grace, kindness, and mercy—will fulfill His promise: "Im Bechukosai Teileichu" (If you walk in My statutes; our Sages explained: that you labor in Torah), "and you keep My commandments," etc., "then I will give," etc., all the blessings listed in the parsha and success in all a person needs.
May it be G‑d's will that you succeed in your studies—Torah learning and mitzvah observance—and go from strength to strength. I also strongly hope that ultimately your parents (may they live) will derive satisfaction from your conduct—and may it be so speedily.
