איך בין געווען צופרידען צו באקומען דיין בריף, אין וועלכען דו שרייבסט אויך וועגען דיין הנהגה, און בפרט די הנהגה בנוגע צום עסען, און אין די ענינים וועלכע זיינען פארבונדען מיט בריאות הגוף, זאגט אן תורתנו הקדושה תורת אלקים חיים, אז מען דארף אויספאלגען אלץ וואס דער דאקטאר זאגט, שהתורה נתנה רשות לרופא, און ער איז ניט מער ווי א שליח. פארשטענדליך אז מען קען זאגען דעם דאקטאר די טענות און סברות וועלכע זיינען פראן אין דעם, און אויך די סברא וועלכע דו שרייבסט צו מיר, אבער נאכדעם ווי דער דאקטאר הערט אויס די סברות, דארפמען אויספאלגען זיינע אנווייזונגען, אן אונטערשייד אויב זיי שטימען מיט דיינע סברות אדער ניט, וואס ווי געזאגט אויבען אז דער דאקטאר איז ניט מער ווי א שליח וועלכער טוט דאס מיט דעם כח און רשות וואס תורה האט עם געגעבען, און וויבאלד אז דאס נעמט זיך פון תורה איז דאס א טובה פאר דעם גוף און דער נשמה צוגלייך. אויב אפילו מען פארשטייט דאס ניט, אדער עס דאכט זיך אנדערש, איז דאס אויך ניט קיין וואונדער, ווארום תורה איז דאך חכמתו ורצונו של הקדוש ברוך הוא איז קיין וואונדער ניט, אז ניט אלץ וואס שטייט אין דער תורה פארשטייט א מענטש, אבער דער מענטש דארף מקיים זיין אלץ וואס אין תורה שטייט אפילו ניט פארשטייענדיק וסוף ההבנה לבוא.
איך האף אז דו וועסט אויספאלגען דאס אלץ אויבען געזאגטע, און טאן דאס מיט שמחה ובטוב לבב.

I was pleased to receive your letter, in which you also write about your conduct, especially regarding eating habits and matters connected to bodily health. Our holy Torah, the Torah of the living G‑d, states that one must follow everything the doctor says, for the Torah has given permission to the doctor, and he is nothing more than an agent.
Of course, one can present to the doctor any arguments and reasoning that exist in this matter, including the reasoning you wrote to me. However, after the doctor hears these arguments, one must follow his instructions regardless of whether they align with your reasoning or not. As mentioned above, the doctor is merely an agent who acts with the power and permission granted by Torah. Since this comes from Torah, it is a benefit for both body and soul alike.
Even if one does not understand this or thinks otherwise, it is no wonder—since Torah is the wisdom and will of Hakadosh Baruch Hu (the Holy One Blessed be He), it is not surprising that a person does not understand everything written in Torah. Nevertheless, a person must fulfill everything stated in Torah even without understanding it; ultimately understanding will come.
I hope you will follow all of the above and do so with joy and gladness of heart.

Summary
The Rebbe teaches that following medical advice is itself a mitzvah rooted in Torah. Even when we do not fully understand or agree with a doctor's guidance, we are to trust that fulfilling these instructions brings benefit to both body and soul because they are empowered by Torah itself.
