במענה על מכתבו דחוהמ"פ, בו כותב אודות רצונו ללמוד תורה וללכת בדרכה ולקיים מצותי' ומוצא קישוים להביא רצונו זה לפועל, ושואל דעתי בזה.
ולפלא גם הספק בדבר, שהרי כל אחד מאתנו בתוך כלל ישראל מצווה לקיים רצון הבורא הוא נותן התורה והמצוה, וכאשר חפצים באמת אזי מצליחים לקיימו, וכשמסבירים הרצון בדרכי נועם ובדרכי שלום מבלי להכנס לריב בודאי שגם אלו שאין שבעים רצון מזה סו"ס יסכימו על הנהגה האמורה, שהרי זהו ציוויו של השי"ת נותן התורה אשר הוא ברא את האדם ויודע מה הוא טובת האדם ומבטיח לו בלשון הכתוב, אם בחקותי תלכו ואת מצותי תשמרו גו' ונתתי גשמיכם וגו' כל הברכות הכתובות בפרשה שם, והשי"ת יצליחו לבשר טוב בכל האמור.

In response to your letter from Chol HaMoed Pesach, in which you write about your desire to study Torah, to follow its path and observe its mitzvos, yet you find obstacles in bringing this desire into action, and you ask my opinion on this.
It is surprising that there is even doubt about this matter, for each of us within the Jewish people is commanded to fulfill the will of the Creator—He Who gives the Torah and the mitzvah. When one truly desires this, one succeeds in fulfilling it. When one explains this desire pleasantly and peacefully without entering into arguments, surely even those who are not initially pleased with it will ultimately agree to such conduct. After all, this is the command of Hashem Who gives the Torah; He created man and knows what is good for him and assures him in the words of Scripture: "Im Bechukosai Teileichu v'es Mitzvosai Tishmeru... v'nasati gishmeichem..." (If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments... I will give your rains...)—all the blessings written in that section. May Hashem grant you success to share good news regarding all of the above.
