I acknowledge receipt of your letter from the 21st of Kislev, in which you write about the expansion of the building. Certainly, this addition will also bring an increase in the matters within the building—I mean the students, the Ram (teacher), and the Rosh Yeshiva—both in quantity and quality. May it be G‑d's will that it be with success and in a manner of ever-increasing growth, even though the sun has set and we find ourselves in exile, a bitter darkness doubled and redoubled. This is like the lesson from Chanukah: to increase day by day in light, with candles fueled by pure oil.

P.S. I received your letter from after Rosh Chodesh. I read in the signature about your decision—which is surely also the opinion of both you and your wife—that when Hashem blesses you with a son, he will be named in Israel Yosef Yitzchak sheyichyeh l'orech yamim tovim. May it be G‑d's will that very soon your heart's wishes in this matter be fulfilled for good, and that you raise him to Torah, chuppah, and good deeds—to be a chasid, G‑d-fearing person, and scholar.
