Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter from the 10th of Kislev, the day of redemption of the Mitteler Rebbe, son of the Alter Rebbe. I was pleased to read about your study of Chassidus in Likkutei Torah and Tanya, and surely you have set fixed times for this. As explained by the Alter Rebbe, this means not only a fixed time but also a fixed place in one's soul—then it is truly established and not nullified by other daily matters; on the contrary, it influences and leaves an impression on the rest of the day. In connection with this, I hope you are aware of the three well-known daily study cycles in Chumash, Tehillim, and Tanya instituted by my father-in-law, the Rebbe—may his merit protect us—and at least from now on you will observe them.
Especially now is an opportune time to make good resolutions regarding Chassidus and its matters since Yud-Tes Kislev—the bright day of victory and redemption of the founder of Chassidus—is approaching with all its associated themes.
Regarding your question about what is written in various places that even above, machlokes (disagreement) is only a garment and does not unite with the essence—even though elsewhere it seems to imply it does unite with its Emanator—there are many levels in unification. This is an inner matter. Even speech above (see Tanya ch. 21) is unique there yet is not comparable to the unification of thought. And there are ever higher levels. Similarly, there is a difference between the unification achieved through mitzvah actions versus Torah study (Tanya ch. 23), so much so that even among the supernal Sefiros, the unification of vessels differs from that of lights—see Hemshech Mayim Rabim 5636 ch. 32 onward for more detail.
Blessings for good news in all the above and also from your influence on your surroundings in this direction.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that setting fixed times for Chassidus study should permeate one’s entire being and daily life. He encourages maintaining daily learning cycles and making positive resolutions as Yud-Tes Kislev approaches.
