The Rabbi and Gaon, the Rabbi and Chassid, G‑d-fearing man, distinguished and honored, occupied with communal needs, a basket full of books, etc., our teacher Rabbi Shlomo Yosef, may he live
Shalom u'Vrachah!
I have just received your letter, which was delayed until Erev Shabbos Kodesh (and surely in the meantime my letters have reached you). I hasten to reply to it in connection with the end of your letter, that you hope to receive in these days from our friend Mr. Shazar, may he live, in keeping with his promise... Since the sum is being received in the Holy Land, may it be built and established, it should of course be used for the needs of the Holy Land, and how good it would be for the needs of the Reshet,[1] where the situation has been extremely tight for some time now. Surely you will let me know about this; thank you in advance.
Some time ago I asked whether the report is true that there was a supplement to the first volumes of
the Talmudic Encyclopedia; and surely, if it is appropriate, it will be sent here too; thank you for this.
As for what you write about a concordance to Tanya: I will tell the truth — just as, in my opinion, an index of subjects and the like is most useful, I do not see the need for a concordance, nor in what way it would help the understanding of the teachings of Chassidus and the like.
I hope that activities are being planned to make use of the festive days of the coming month of Kislev, may it come upon us for good, in the most effective way.
And may it be G‑d's will that it be with success.
With blessing for good news,
M. Schneerson

Summary
This letter asks that the sum promised by Mr. Shazar, being received in the Holy Land, be used for its needs, preferably the hard-pressed Reshet schools. It asks about supplements to the first volumes of the Talmudic Encyclopedia, and says a subject index to Tanya is most useful but a concordance is not needed.
