במענה על מכתבו, בו כותב אשר נהנה הוא מהשכונה בה התיישב, שיש בה כמה ענינים של תורה יראת שמים וגם חסידות.
ובטח גם הוא וזוגתו תחי' מוסיפים בענינים אלו, שהרי שכונה מציאותה מהאישים הנמצאים בה ופועלים בעניני', ועל כל אחד ואחת חלק מסוים וגם חשוב מפעולות בעבודה זו, ובפרט שהמקצוע שלו הוא מקצוע הרפואה, והרי בתקופה זו כולי עלמא מודים אשר בריאות הגוף תלוי בבריאות הנשמה ומנוחתה, וכבר ידוע מאמר חז"ל בשלום הנעשה בפמליא של מטה, וביאר רבנו הזקן בעל השו"ע והתניא, שהכוונה לאדם ושתי הנפשות שלו נפש האלקית ונפש הבהמית, ע"י התורה, פירושו אורח חיים כפי הוראת תורתנו תורת חיים, ובטח יש למצוא אותיות המתאימות לרוחו של המבקר אותו בתור רופא להסבירו ג"כ ענינים ברפואת הנפש, ועל פי המבואר בכמה מקומות ומהם בשמונה פרקים להרמב"ם ספרי חסידות ומוסר...
ולקראת השנה החדשה הבאה עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה ולברכה, הנני בזה להביע ברכתי, לו ולכל אשר לו, ברכת כתיבה וחתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה בגשמיות וברוחניות.

In response to your letter, in which you write that you are enjoying the neighborhood where you have settled, as it has several aspects of Torah, fear of Heaven, and also Chassidus. Surely you and your wife are also adding to these matters, for a neighborhood's reality is defined by the people who live there and act within it. Each person has a certain and even important part in these activities and work—especially since your profession is medicine. In our times, everyone agrees that physical health depends on the health and tranquility of the soul. It is already known from our Sages about peace made in the lower realm, which our master the Alter Rebbe, author of Shulchan Aruch and Tanya, explained refers to a person and his two souls—the Divine soul and the animal soul—through Torah; meaning a way of life as directed by our Torah of life. Surely you can find words that fit the spirit of your patient as a doctor to also explain matters of healing the soul, as explained in several places—including in Shemoneh Perakim by Rambam, books of Chassidus, and Mussar...
As we approach the new year that is coming upon us and all Israel for good and blessing, I hereby express my blessing to you and all yours: may you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year both materially and spiritually.
