שלום וברכה!
לקראת השנה החדשה הבאה עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה ולברכה, הנני בזה להביע ברכתי לכ' ולכל אשר לו, ברכת כתיבה וחתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה בגשמיות וברוחניות.
הססתי אם לכתוב לכ' את שורותי הבאות, אף על פי כן אעשה כן עכ"פ בקיצור.
על יסוד הידיעות שקבלתי מהשלוחים שליט"א בשובם מאה"ק ת"ו (ובהמשך לשיחתנו בעת ביקור כ' כאן אודות הדור הצעיר והנוער באה"ק ת"ו שנתאכזבו בכמה וכמה ענינים ובמדה חשובה מרגישים את עצמם בלי אחיזה רצוי' בחיי ההוה), הנה לצערי הכי גדול נתאמת החשש שלי בזה, אלא שעוד במדה גדולה יותר, כי כנראה האכזבה הנ"ל הביאה חלק מסויים וגם חשוב באיכות של הנוער והצעירים לשאיפה דתענוגות עולם הזה כפשוטם (אף שלשמחתי ובמצב העכשוי, ברובם לא תענוגים האסורים, אלא, בלשון התניא, דקליפת נוגה), כגון דירה נאה ורהיטים נאים, משרה נוחה ושקטה וכו', וכל מאווים בזה עד כדי הסתייגות מהשיגים בענינים רוחניים. ומובן אשר אם חלק הנוער הוא מסוג האמור הנ"ל, ישנו ג"כ מיעוט שירד עוד יותר - מקליפת נוגה ולמטה.
וכמו שאמרתי גם במשך שיחתנו, הרי בחיי האדם אין חשוב כ"כ המצב ברגע מסויים, אלא הכיוון והדרך בה הולכים. ולכן מה שמצער וגם מפחיד במצב הנ"ל הוא שבכל משך השנים האחרונות הדרך שנטו בה הנוער והצעירים באה"ק ת"ו היא בכיוון האמור: מן הרוחניות אל הרוחניות פחות, וממנה אל הגשמיות ומן הגשמיות אל החומריות.
מובן שאין כוונתי כלל וכלל לצער את כ' ומפני זה קצרתי בכל הנ"ל ככל האפשר, ולא באתי בשורותי אלו אלא בתקוה שינצל השפעתו על אלו החוגים שיש בידם לנקוט האמצעים המתאימים לתקן סוף סוף מצב זה, ופשיטא שיסתייגו מכל דבר הדוחף את הנוער ואת הצעירים בכיוון הנ"ל.
וזאת להעיר אשר חלק מהשלוחים נפגש באופן בלתי רשמי גם עם אלו שלא מן החוגים החרדים, ולא רק החוגים שבאמצע אלא גם החוגים שאינם שומרי תורה ומצוה כלל לעת עתה, ולצערי בכל אלו נרגשת ירידה האמורה, אף שכמובן במדה שונה מחוג אחד לחברו.

Shalom u'Vrachah!
As the new year approaches for us and all Israel for good and blessing, I hereby express my blessing to you and all yours: may you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year both materially and spiritually.
I hesitated whether to write you the following lines; nevertheless, I will do so at least briefly.
Based on information I received from the shluchim, may they live and be well, upon their return from Eretz HaKodesh (and following our conversation during your visit here about the younger generation and youth in Eretz HaKodesh who have been disappointed in many areas and feel themselves lacking a proper foothold in present life), unfortunately my greatest fear has been confirmed—indeed, even more so. Apparently, this disappointment has led a certain segment of youth—an important one in quality—to seek pleasures of this world in a literal sense (although, fortunately and at present, most are not seeking forbidden pleasures but rather, as Tanya puts it, those of kelipat nogah), such as a nice home with fine furnishings, an easy and quiet job, etc., with all their desires focused on these things—even to the point of distancing themselves from spiritual achievements.
It is understood that if part of the youth are as described above, there is also a minority who have descended even further—below kelipat nogah.
As I said during our conversation: in a person's life what matters most is not one's situation at any given moment but rather the direction and path one follows. Therefore what is distressing—and even frightening—about this situation is that throughout recent years the path taken by youth in Eretz HaKodesh has been as described: from spirituality to less spirituality; from there to materiality; from materiality to physicality.
I certainly do not intend at all to distress you by writing this; therefore I have kept it as brief as possible. My purpose here is only in hope that you will use your influence among those circles able to take appropriate measures to finally correct this situation—and certainly they will distance anything that pushes youth further along this negative direction.
It should also be noted that some of the shluchim met informally with people not only from religious circles but also those in between—and even those who currently do not observe Torah and mitzvot at all. Sadly, among all these groups the aforementioned decline is felt—though naturally it varies from group to group.
With honor and blessing; may we hear good news regarding all the above.
