... במ"ש שנשאר בספק, כיון שבטבעו עושה הוא כל ענין מיט א ברען, ונראה לו ממכתבי שצריך להשקיט את עצמו כי ב"ה הענינים מתנהלים כפי הכוונה ולא לחפש גדולות ונצורות וכו'.
לא פירש כוונתי מתאים למה שכיונתי, והיא שגם לדעתי יכול הוא לעשות גדולות ונצורות, גם לדעתי הענינים הכללים והפרטים נותנים מקום להשלמה ולשיפור, וכמו בכל עניני בני אדם, עאכו"כ בענינים הקשורים בחינוך, ולא עוד אלא שלדעתי ג"כ ההתלהבות מועילה בכל האמור, אלא שלדעתי התלהבות אין כוונתה שמתוך התלהבות אין מביטים על ימין ושמאל ופועלים בעינים סגורות, אלא אפשרי, וכן הוא ההכרח שההתלהבות תוסיף מרץ והענינים יעשו ע"י התייעצות עם עוד אחדים לכה"פ ולא עם אחד או בלי התייעצות כלל, והנאמר ותשועה ברוב יועץ הוא גם בהנוגע לעניני קדושה שצריכים להעשות מתוך התלהבות דוקא, ופשיטא שאין ההתלהבות שוללת נתינת מקום וחוו"ד של אחרים.
... וכמו שכתבתי כ"פ שאפילו רב אשי שהי' תורה וגדולה במקום אחד הי' מתייעץ עם כל הטבחים שבמקומו, וכש"כ וק"ו וכו', ויהי רצון אז ער זאל נעמען כל האמור לעיל כפי כוונתי, היינו דברים כפשוטם, ואשר מובטחני שהנהגה האמורה היא טובתו וטובת המוסד בגשמיות וברוחניות...
ולקראת השנה החדשה הבאה עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה ולברכה, הנני בזה להביע ברכתי לו ולכל אשר לו, ברכת שנה טובה ומתוקה בגשמיות וברוחניות.

Regarding what you wrote that you remain in doubt, since by nature you do everything with a burning enthusiasm, and it seems to you from my letter that you should calm yourself because, thank G‑d, matters are proceeding as intended and not to seek great or wondrous things, etc. You did not interpret my intention as I meant it. My intention is that in my opinion too you can accomplish great and wondrous things; also in my opinion the general and specific matters allow for completion and improvement—as with all human affairs, all the more so in matters connected to education. Moreover, I believe that enthusiasm is beneficial for all the above. However, in my view enthusiasm does not mean that out of excitement one ignores right and left and acts blindly; rather it is possible—and indeed necessary—that enthusiasm adds energy while matters are carried out through consultation with at least several others, not just one or without any consultation at all. The saying 'salvation comes through many counselors' applies even to holy matters which must be done with enthusiasm specifically. Certainly enthusiasm does not preclude giving space for the opinions of others.
... As I have written several times—even Rav Ashi, who combined Torah greatness and leadership in one person, would consult with all the butchers of his place; how much more so in our case. May it be G‑d's will that he take all the above as I intended—meaning simply—and I am confident that this approach will benefit him and the institution both materially and spiritually.
And as we approach the new year coming upon us and all Israel for good and blessing, I hereby express my blessing to him and all his household: a good and sweet year materially and spiritually.
