במענה על מכתבו מיום הבהיר הילולא דרשב"י. - הנה ת"ל אשר סו"ס בא לפועל הענין דלקיחת שתילים וכפי המכתב שקבלתי עתה מאה"ק ת"ו כבר נטעו אותם, אף שעדיין איני יודע עד"ז בפרטיות הדרושה, ואתענין לדעת מצדו באיזה אופן סגרו וחתמו על השתילים או שלחום ע"י הבי דואר וכיו"ב וכו'.
לפלא שע"ד עניני העיר אינו כותב כלום מלבד שתי המלות הכל שלום אשר הורגלו כזה לכתוב גם ע"ד מצב דהעדר פעולות או באופן נעלה יותר כשהוא כדבעי בהקו דסור מרע אף שאין נעשה בהקו דועשה טוב, ועיין תניא פרק ל' ומה לי בחי' סור מרע ומה לי בחי' ועשה טוב הכל היא מצות המלך הקדוש יחיד ומיוחד ב"ה.
וכיון דאתאן להכא, באתי על עוד ענין שכנראה גם לא הותחל עד"ז והוא הפעולה בין הנשים, ומוסג"פ העתק מאחד ממכתבי בזה, והרי עתה הם ימי סגולה וכמבואר גם במכתבי זה, והאריכות בזה אך למותר.

In response to your letter from the bright day of the yahrzeit of Rashbi: Thank G‑d that finally the matter of taking saplings has come to fruition. According to the letter I have just received from Eretz HaKodesh may it be rebuilt and established, they have already planted them, though I still do not know the necessary details about this. I am interested to know from your side how they sealed and signed off on the saplings or if they sent them via postal service or similar means, etc.
It is surprising that you write nothing about matters of the city except for the two words "everything is well," which has become customary to write even regarding a state of inactivity or in a loftier manner when things are as they should be in the mode of "turn away from evil," even if "do good" has not been accomplished. See Tanya chapter 30: what difference is there between the aspect of "turn away from evil" and "do good"—all are commandments of the holy King, singular and unique is He.
Since we have come to this point, I will address another matter which apparently also has not yet begun: activity among women. Enclosed is a copy of one of my letters on this subject. Now are auspicious days as explained also in my letter here; elaboration is unnecessary.
