נעם לי לקבל מכתבו משילהי אדר, בו כותב ראשי פרקים מהשתלשלות הדברים השתתפותו בהתייסדות ביהכ"נ חב"ד ד... אשר ביהכ"נ נעשה ג"כ בית המדרש ע"י קביעות עתים לתורה בשיעורים הנלמדים בו, וידועה דרשת רז"ל עה"פ אוהב ה' שערי ציון (ברכות ח, א), ומזה מובן גודל הזכות של כאו"א מהמשתדלים בזה, זכות הרבים, ונאמן אבינו שבשמים נותן התורה ומקבל התפלות לשלם שכרם בכל המצטרך להם ולב"ב, ובודאי ימצא האותיות המתאימות להסביר את זה לב"ב ובפרט לזוגתו שתליט"א, אשר כפי פתגם חז"ל אשתו כגופו דמיא, ובמילא גם לה חלק בהשתדלותו האמורה, ובלי ספק אשר גם זה גרם להטבת מצב בריאותה ומזה מובן ג"כ שככל שתעודד רוחו ותחזקו להמשיך בפעולותיו הכי נעלות בשטח האמור יתוסף עוד בבריאותה ובטיב מצב רוחה. והאריכות בכגון דא, בטח אך למותר.
תקותי חזקה שחלקו ג"כ מצה שמורה לאנשי בית הכנסת זו וכמנהג אנ"ש בשנים האחרונות המנהג ההולך ומתפשט, וע"י המצה שהיא מיכלא דמהימנותא ומיכלא דאסוותא יתוסף בכח האמונה שהיא יסוד כל המצות כי בא חבקוק והעמידן על אחת צדיק באמונתו יחי' ויתוסף בבריאות הגוף והנפש במיכלא דאסוותא.
בפ"ש חבריו בעבודה הקדושה האמורה ובברכה שיבשר טוב בכל האמור וביחוד בהנוגע לבריאות זוגתו תחי'.

I was pleased to receive your letter from the end of Adar, in which you write main points about the sequence of events regarding your participation in founding the Chabad synagogue of ... where the synagogue also became a study hall by establishing fixed times for Torah study in the lessons held there. The teaching of our Sages on the verse Ohev Hashem Shaarei Tzion ("The L‑rd loves the gates of Zion") (Berachos 8a) is well known, and from this we understand the great merit for each person who puts effort into this — the merit of the many. Our faithful Father in Heaven, Giver of the Torah and Receiver of prayers, certainly repays their reward with everything they need for themselves and their families.
Surely you will find suitable words to explain this to your family members, especially to your wife shetichyeh. As our Sages say: "A man's wife is considered as his own self," so she too has a share in your aforementioned efforts. Without a doubt, this has also contributed to an improvement in her health. It is also understood that as much as she encourages and strengthens you to continue your lofty activities in this area, it will further add to her health and well-being.
And elaboration on such matters is surely unnecessary.
I strongly hope that you also distributed shmurah matzah to members of this synagogue as is the custom among Anash in recent years — a custom that continues to spread. Through matzah, which is michla d'mehemnusa ("the food of faith") and michla d'asvasa ("the food of healing"), faith — which is the foundation of all mitzvos as Chavakuk said: "He established them all upon one: Tzadik be'emunaso yichyeh" ("The righteous shall live by his faith") — will be strengthened further, as will bodily and spiritual health through michla d'asvasa.
