I was pleased to receive your letter from the 22nd of Kislev in which you write about the farbrengen on the bright day of the Festival of Redemption, Yud-Tes Kislev—the redemption of our Rebbe the Alter Rebbe and our own redemption and the liberation of our souls. Certainly, practical resolutions were also accepted regarding spreading the wellsprings outward and Torah and mitzvos in particular. Since today is an auspicious day, it is easier for this inspiration at a time of favor to be drawn into action, and surely you will fulfill this at the next opportunity.

Regarding your question about setting a location for the farbrengen—whether in the synagogue or in one of Anash's homes—do not withhold your hand from either, for both are very necessary. This question was already asked of my father-in-law, the Rebbe (of blessed memory), and he answered similarly. In general, one must consider local conditions and act so as to utilize the advantages of a farbrengen in a public place—that is, in a synagogue or study hall—as well as those of a farbrengen in a private home, which brings that home closer as well. The way to do this is by alternating between them; however, it is impossible to set an absolute rule about this, as is obvious.
