קבלתי מכתבו מי"ד מנחם אב, ותקותי אשר בטח הסתדרו אביו שליט"א וכן גם גיסו ואחותו ובנו שיחיו בטוב.
וכבקשתו הזכרתי בהיכל כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ שקבע נסיעתו חזרה ליום ועש"ק ה' אלול, ובטח יברכו כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ שתהי' הנסיעה כשורה.
קבלתי מכתב ממוכר ספרים מרדכי דוד בלום בירושלים (שוק מאה שערים, בית הרב חרלף) וכותב שיש אצלו איזה ביכלעך כתבי דא"ח ורוצה למכרם לקה"ת. ומטובו אם יהי' בירושלים לראות אם יש בהם גוף כתי"ק או רק העתקות, וכן אם אפשר לברר אם הכתבים מהנדפסים כבר אם לאו. ואם המחיר הוא נמוך ביותר יכול בכל אופן לקנותם. בודאי מהנכון שמר בלום לא ידע שבא בשליחות מכאן, שאז יעלה המחיר, ות"ח על טרחתו.

I received your letter from the 14th of Menachem Av, and I hope that surely your father shlita as well as your brother-in-law, sister, and son are all well.
As you requested, I mentioned in the chamber of my father-in-law the Rebbe hk"m that you set your return trip for Friday, the 5th of Elul. Surely my father-in-law the Rebbe hk"m will bless that your journey will go smoothly.
I received a letter from a book dealer, Mordechai David Blum in Jerusalem (Meah Shearim Market, Beit Harav Charlap), who writes that he has some booklets of Chassidic manuscripts and wants to sell them to Kehot.
If possible, when you are in Jerusalem please check if any contain original handwritten texts or only copies. Also try to clarify whether these writings have already been printed or not. If the price is extremely low you may purchase them regardless.
It is certainly proper that Mr. Blum should not know you are coming on a mission from here; otherwise the price will rise. Thank you very much for your effort.
