Shalom u'Vrachah!

There are two matters on Beis Nissan: a) the yahrzeit of our master, teacher, and Rebbe (the Rebbe Rashab), may the memory of the righteous and holy be a blessing for life in both worlds; and therefore b) the day on which his only son—our master, teacher, and Rebbe, my father-in-law, may the memory of the righteous and holy be a blessing for life in both worlds—became leader and Nasi of our generation.

Each year these matters are awakened at their respective times. It is easily understood by one with understanding that in the thirty years that have passed until now—thirty Beis Nissan (5680–5709)—there has been ascent after ascent, thirty levels. As explained by our Sages, even after passing, tzaddikim go from strength to strength; "tzaddika d’istalek is found in all worlds," even in this world—more than during his lifetime. Therefore, his influence upon all those connected to him also increases ever more. And for these influences to be received inwardly, the "vessels" of those connected to him must also become more refined.

Especially for this time of year—on the upcoming Beis Nissan—it is upon each and every one connected to my father-in-law, our Rebbe, to strengthen their bond with him according to the ways he taught us in his letters, talks, and sayings—with greater force and vigor—and to contemplate and fix in mind and heart that G‑d forbid the shepherd has not abandoned his flock; our Nasi, my father-in-law our Rebbe, still stands and serves in holiness to protect them and provide them with everything they need physically and spiritually.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that Beis Nissan is a time for chassidim to renew their connection with their Rebbe by following his teachings with increased dedication. Even after passing from this world, a true leader continues to guide and bless his followers.
