מכתבו מח"י תמוז נתקבל. ומרוב הטרדות לא עניתיו ע"ע, ואתו הסליחה.
היום השגתי ר"ד די"ג תמוז והנני מוסג"פ, ביחד עם הר"ד דאחש"פ. ובטח, כפי הנהוג ע"ע, יצווה לעו"ר להעתיקם, ולתת העתקה לכאו"א מקיבוצי אנ"ש.
הבטחתי ע"ד ביאור שיחת קונטרס חה"פ - הנני זוכר. אבל מה אעשה, והענינים שזמנם עובר דוחים לזמן יותר מוכשר את הענינים שאין זמנם עובר. ולדוגמא, אחרי ההו"ל של הקונטרס לחג הגאולה, מוכרח הייתי לגמור את כל השייך להופעת מפתח מאמרי כ"ק אדנ"ע, הנמצא זה מכבר בדפוס. אח"ז באה ההתעסקות בהו"ל של השדי חמד (כי הכרך הראשון צריך להופיע, מאיזה טעמים, לא יאוחר מי"ב אלול, ובמילא מאיץ המדפיס שלא לעכב גם שאר הכרכים). באמצע ההתעסקות בזה, נתברר שלא יספיקו המחזורים שלנו הנמצאים אצלנו ובעוד מועד צריך להכין עוד, ובמילא קבלתי הוראה להוסיף בסופם עכ"פ רשימה קצרה ממנהגי חב"ד דעשי"ת שיש בהם חידוש. בטח, בעוד כשבוע יותן הקונטרס לח"י אלול וכו' וכו'. וכ"ז הוא נוסף על מאמרי כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שליט"א שזה יותר משנתיים שהתחילו להדפיסם, ספר מאמרי תרמ"ג הנמצאים בדפוס, וכו'.
וכ"ז הוא נוסף על הטרדות דשאר המחלקות דמל"ח ומחנה - שאיני יכול להטילם על שכם אחרים.
אבל בכ"ז, איני מתייאש מהעומק בלימוד שיחה הנ"ל, ואם אדע דבר מה בביאורה בודאי לא אמנע מלכתוב הנלפע"ד. אלא שאיני יודע מתי אפנה עכ"פ במקצת...

Your letter from the 18th of Tammuz was received. Due to many preoccupations, I have not yet answered you; please accept my apologies.
Today I obtained a copy of the letter from the 13th of Tammuz and am enclosing it here, together with the letter from after Pesach. Surely, as is customary now, you will instruct those who do His will to copy them and give a copy to each member of our Anash communities.
I promised an explanation regarding the discourse in the Kuntres for Pesach—I remember this. But what can I do? Matters whose time passes push off those whose time does not pass to a more opportune moment. For example: after publishing the Kuntres for Yud-Beis–Yud-Gimmel Tammuz (the festival of redemption), I had to finish everything related to producing an index of Maamarim by my revered father-in-law, which has long been at the printer.
After that came involvement with publishing Shedei Chemed (since the first volume must appear—due to certain reasons—no later than the 12th of Elul, so the printer urges not to delay even the other volumes). In the midst of this work, it became clear that our supply of machzorim would not suffice; therefore, in good time we had to prepare more. As a result, I received instructions to add at least a short list at their end of Chabad customs for Aseres Yemei Teshuvah which contain novelties.
Surely, in about a week the Kuntres for Chai Elul will be given out, etc., etc. All this is in addition to my revered father-in-law's Maamarim that have been in print for over two years now; Sefer Maamarim from 5643 is also at the printer; and so on.
All this is in addition to the burdens from other departments—Melach and Machaneh—which I cannot place on others' shoulders. Nevertheless, I do not despair about delving into study of the aforementioned discourse; if I know anything regarding its explanation, I will certainly not refrain from writing what seems correct in my eyes. However, I do not know when I will be able to devote even some time...
