אונזערע פארשטייער, האברכים המצויינים הוו"ח אי"א וכו' הרבנים שלום חאסקינד ושמעון אהרן סימפסאן שיחיו, האבען אונז געבראכט א גוטען גרוס פון אייך און אייער ווארימער אינטערעסירונג אין דער ארבעט פון "מרכז לעניני חינוך".
עס האט אונז באזונדערס געפרייט צו הערען דאס איר [האט] מבטיח געווען צו העלפען דער ארבעט פון מל"ח דורך אראנזשירען א "טיי" בא אייך אין דער היים. אזוי ארום וועט איר זיין ניט נאר אן עושה נאר אויך א מעשה, און ס'איז איבעריק צו זאגען ווי גרויס דער זכות פון דער מצוה איז. האפענטליך וועט איר אונז מיטטיילען אין גוטער צייט ווען די געפלאנטע צוזאמענקונפט וועט בא אייך פארקומען.
אלול, דער לעצטער חודש פון יאר, איז א הכנה צו ראש השנה, ווען מיר קומען אלע אויסבעטן ביים אויבערשטן א כתיבה וחתימה טובה אויף געזונט, פרנסה און אלעס בעסטעס בגשמיות וברוחניות.
אויף דעם חודש אלול זיינען פאראן צוויי רמזים: א) א ני ל דודי ו דודי ל י און ב) א יש ל רעהו ו מתנות ל אביונים, וואס ביידע זיינען א ראשי-תיבות: אלו"ל.
אט די צוויי רמזים ווייזן ווי אזוי די הכנה פון אלול דארף זיין: קודם כל מוז זיין דער "אני לדודי" - יעדער איד דארף זיך אומקערן צום אויבערשטן מיט א געפיל פון תשובה. דאן מוז אט דער געפיל פארוואנדלט ווערן אין מעשים לפועל, און אויף דרויף ווייזט דער צווייטער רמז - איש לרעהו ומתנות לאביונים.
בכלל קומט א מענטש אין קאנטאקט מיט אנדערע מענטשן וועלכע זיינען מער-ווייניקער אין זעלבן מעמד ומצב ווי ער אליין. אזעלכע מענטשן רעכענען זיך אין דער מדרגה פן "רעהו" - גלייכע חברים. עס זיינען אבער פאראן מענטשן וועלכע שטייען אין א נידעריקערע מדרגה ווי ער - אין דער בחינה פון "אביונים" לגבי אים. דאס באציט זיך, נאטירליך, סיי אין גייסטיקן און סיי אין מאטעריעלן זין. די שלימות'דיקע עבודה איז, ווען א איד איז מקיים ביידע זאכן: סיי לרעהו און סיי לאביונים. דער עושה ומעשה בא וועמען עינו טובה בשל אחרים, איז מקיים ביידע בשלימות, ספעציעל ווען עס האנדלט זיך וועגן הילף פאר דער ארבעט פון מרכז לעניני חינוך.

Shalom u'Vrachah!
Our representatives, the outstanding Avrechim vavac"h iy"a etc. Rabbis Shalom Haskind and Shimon Aharon Simpson sheyichyu, brought us warm regards from you and your enthusiastic interest in the work of Merkaz L'Inyonei Chinuch. We were especially pleased to hear that you have promised to help the work of Melach by arranging a "tea" at your home. In this way, you will not only be a doer but also an initiator, and it is superfluous to say how great the merit of this mitzvah is.
Hopefully you will inform us in good time when the planned gathering will take place at your home.
Elul, the last month of the year, is a preparation for Rosh Hashanah when we all come to beseech from the Almighty for a good inscription and sealing for health, livelihood, and all good things both materially and spiritually.
Regarding this month of Elul there are two hints: (a) Ani LeDodi VeDodi Li ("I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine") and (b) Ish LeRe'eihu U'Matanot LaEvyonim ("each person to his friend and gifts to the poor"), both of which are acronyms for Elul. These two hints show how our preparation for Elul should be: first must come "Ani LeDodi"—every Jew must turn to the Almighty with a feeling of teshuvah. Then this feeling must be transformed into practical deeds, as indicated by the second hint—helping one's friend and giving gifts to the poor.
Generally, a person comes into contact with other people who are more or less on his own level—these people are considered "friends," equals. But there are also people who stand on a lower level than he does—in relation to him they are "poor." This applies naturally both in spiritual and material terms.
The complete service is when a Jew fulfills both aspects: helping friends as well as those less fortunate. The one who acts and inspires others with a generous eye fulfills both completely—especially when it comes to supporting the work of Merkaz L'Inyonei Chinuch.
