Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter from Erev Shabbat Kodesh Vayeira, in which you requested that I mention you for a blessing and deliver your pidyon nefesh to my father-in-law, the Rebbe shlita, I have fulfilled your request. Based on our Sages (Mechilta Shemot 19:8), who taught that even when the sender knows, it is customary to inform about the fulfillment of a mission, I am writing accordingly.
It is noteworthy that in Targum Yonatan (there), he adds in two verses—verse chet and tet—the word "beTzilo" (in His shadow). It can be said that his intention is to resolve the question raised in Mechilta: Why did Moshe need to respond?—and not as some say "to teach you," etc. In our case one could say it is not a contradiction, since here the sender's knowledge will only come after some time.
With blessings for immediate teshuvah and immediate redemption.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that even when a mission's fulfillment seems obvious, it is proper to report its completion. He also shares an insight into Moshe's reply in Torah, encouraging clarity and communication in spiritual matters.
