Shalom u'Vrachah!

We are surprised that lately we have not heard from you. We would be pleased if you would write us a letter about how you are personally doing and what is happening regarding strengthening Yiddishkeit in your city, as we discussed when you were here.

We have sent you the Chavrah Mishnayos Ba'al Peh member card, and surely you have received it.

It surprises us that you have not yet ordered the "Hayom Yom" and "Chanoch Lana'ar" booklets which have recently appeared and which have brought great satisfaction in the chassidic world. Surely you have not yet ordered them because you were not informed about their publication; therefore we are sending you up to five copies of both booklets for yourself and your friends. If you find this is too many, you can return the extras at our expense.

In this month of destruction—may it be transformed speedily in our days to joy and gladness—we must all remember that "Al mah avdah ha'aretz (Why was the land lost) (in the First Temple)? Because they abandoned Torah" (Bava Metzia 85b), and in the Second Temple—because of baseless hatred (Yoma 9b). This remembrance should arouse a strong will to do everything with unconditional Ahavas Yisrael (see Hayom Yom 15 Kislev where the Alter Rebbe—the author of Tanya and Shulchan Aruch—said this), especially to strengthen love for Torah which comes through recognizing that it is His wisdom, and generally through awakening fear of Heaven.
