I received your letter pleasantly... I also thank you here for your gift—the list of the temimim students who studied in Lubavitch until the year 5670 (1910), as I have been searching for this for a long time and you matched my intention. Thank you very much.

Regarding this matter, it would be worthwhile if you would also record your own study periods in Tomchei Temimim as precisely as possible, as well as the study periods of your acquaintances among those known to you.

Your comment about quality and quantity from our Sages—that the Holy One, blessed be He, appeased the moon by increasing its hosts—seems correct to me, even though in such matters there are distinctions between cases; nevertheless, there is a commonality between them (see Tosafos s.v. Kula-hu Sukkah 8b), and it is a fine observation.

Enclosed is a copy of a general letter from this Chanukah. I will conclude with a blessing to your honor for success in establishing fixed times for Torah study—of which setting fixed times for studying Chassidus is also an important part. In connection with this matter, I once again come to encourage you regarding appropriate effort to strengthen ... in his study of Chassidus.
