המצווה הקפ"ב
הציווי שנצטווינו להבדיל שש ערי מקלט שתהיינה מוכנות למכה נפש בשגגה, ושמתקנים את הדרך אליהן ומישרין אותה, ולא יניחו בה דבר המעכב את הבורח מלרוץ.
והוא אמרו יתעלה: "תכין לך הדרך ושלשת את גבול-ארצך" (דברים יט, ג).
וכבר נתבארנו דיני מצווה זו בסנהדרין ומכות ושקלים וסוטה.
וכבר הזכרנו אומרם: "ערי מקלט אין נוהגות אלא בארץ".
The 182nd Mitzvah
1. The commandment by which we were commanded to designate six cities of refuge, to stand ready for one who kills unintentionally; and to repair the road to them and make it straight, leaving nothing on it that would keep the fugitive from running.
2. This is His statement, may He be exalted: "תכין לך הדרך ושלשת את גבול-ארצך" ("Prepare the road for yourself, and divide the territory of your land into three parts," Devarim 19:3).
3. The laws of this mitzvah have already been explained in Sanhedrin, Makkos, Shekalim and Sotah.
4. We have already cited their statement: "ערי מקלט אין נוהגות אלא בארץ" ("Cities of refuge apply only in Eretz Yisrael").
