המצווה הקפ"ג
הציווי שנצטווינו לתן ערים ללויים לדור בהן, כיון שאין להם חלק בארץ. והוא אמרו יתעלה: "ונתנו ללויים וגו' ערים לשבת" (במדבר לה, ב). וגם ערים אלו, כלומר: ערי הלויים, הן ערי מקלט וקולטות בתנאים המיוחדים להן, כמו שנתבאר במכות.
The 183rd Mitzvah
1. The commandment in which we were commanded to give cities to the Leviim for them to dwell in, since they have no portion in the land. This is as He, may He be exalted, said: "And you shall give to the Leviim... cities to dwell in" (Bamidbar 35:2). And these cities, that is, the cities of the Leviim, are also cities of refuge and provide refuge under the specific conditions for them, as explained in Makkos.
