המצווה המשלימה שמנים
הציווי שנצטווינו לפדות בכור אדם ולתן אותו הפדיון לכהן.
והוא אמרו יתעלה: "בכור בניך תתן לי" (שמות כב, כח).
ופרש איך תהיה נתינה זו: שנפדנו מן הכהן וכאילו כבר זכה בו, ונקנהו ממנו בחמישה סלעים.
והוא אמרו יתעלה: "אך פדה תפדה את בכור האדם" (במדבר יח, טו).
ומצווה זו היא מצוות פדיון הבן.
ואין הנשים חייבות בה.
אלא היא מצוות הבן על האב.
כמו שנתבאר בקדושין.

The eightieth mitzvah
The commandment in which we were commanded to redeem a firstborn male and to give that redemption to a Kohen.
This is as He, may He be exalted, said: "You shall give Me the firstborn of your sons" (Shemos 22:28).
And it was explained how this giving is to be: that we redeem him from the Kohen as if the Kohen already acquired him, and we purchase him back from the Kohen with five selah.
And He, may He be exalted, said: "But you shall surely redeem the firstborn of man" (Bamidbar 18:15).
This mitzvah is the mitzvah of pidyon haben (the redemption of the firstborn son).
Women are not obligated in it.
Rather, it is a mitzvah of the son upon the father.
