קִיצוּר בִּיאוּר אַאַמוּ"ר בְּאֹופַן הָאַ': תָּ - תָּמִים תִּהְיֶ' עִם הַ"אֶ, עַבֹודַת הַתְּשוּבָה הַבָּאָה עַ"יְ הַתְּמִימוּת, כַּמָה בְּחִינֹות וּמַדְרֵיגֹות בְּעִנְיַן הַתְּמִימוּת, וּבְּיַחַס אֶל הַתְּשוּבָה הָעוֹלֶה עַל כּוּלָנָה הִיא תְּמִימוּת הַלֵב - הַנִקְרַאַת עֶרֶנְסְטְקַייט - כָּאָמוּר בְּאַבְרָהָם וּמָצָאתָ אֶת לְבָבֹו נֶאֶמָן לְפָנֶיךָ.

"Avinu Malkeinu." Selichos.
A summary of my father's explanation of the first mode: Tav — "Tamim tihyeh im Havayah Elokecha." This is the avodah of teshuvah that comes by way of temimus, wholeness. There are many aspects and gradations in the matter of temimus, and in relation to teshuvah the highest of them all is temimus halev, wholeness of heart — what is called ernstkeit, earnestness — as is said of Avraham, "And You found his heart faithful before You."
