Today, in a brief reflection, we note that this day—Chof Zayin—corresponds to the idea of zach, as in shemen zayis zach, pure olive oil. Yet at the same time, it is a very difficult and painful day in many respects.

It has been twenty years since Chof Zayin Adar 5752, when a tremendous and painful situation unfolded for Klal Yisrael, for Chassidim, and for the entire world in a physical sense. Additionally, we recall more recent tragedies of great magnitude—innocent people, including young children, individuals devoted to Torah and mitzvos, who were murdered simply because they were Jewish. They are true kedoshim, having given their lives al kiddush Hashem.

As we learn the parshiyos of korbanos, we speak of animal offerings, yet here we are confronted with human beings whose lives were taken. This makes the day especially difficult and heavy.

Nevertheless, we know that we must remain hopeful and uplifted. We must never give in to despair. Despair is the counsel of the yetzer hara, which seeks to weaken us and cause us to give up. Instead, we must strengthen ourselves and one another in emunah and bitachon in Hashem.

We also hold firmly to the promises of the Rebbe, Nasi HaDor, that Mashiach is at our doorstep—hinei hinei ze ba. Our task is to cry out sincerely, “Ad mosai,” and to live with anticipation and longing for the coming of Mashiach.

It is a difficult and disheartening time. So many years have passed, and still we await the complete redemption. And yet, despite the pain and the tragedies, we continue to hope.

We also note that today marks ten years since the wedding of Gabi and Rivky Holtzberg, the shluchim who were murdered al kiddush Hashem. One of the young children recently murdered was named Gavriel after Gavriel Holtzberg. This connection is deeply chilling and reminds us of the painful reality we face.

There are, unfortunately, many who wish to harm others, especially the Jewish people. Therefore, we pray that lo takum pa’amayim tzara—that such suffering should not occur again.

The Rebbe would sometimes say that when Hashem chooses a korban, He takes from the finest. Some of our finest have been taken, and we pray that this should be the end of such suffering.

As we approach the month of Nissan, we recall that Nissan is associated with miracles—nisei nissim, double miracles. May Hashem grant that we experience only goodness, kindness, and mercy.

May we merit the fulfillment of BeNissan nigalu u’BeNissan asidin l’higal—that just as we were redeemed in Nissan, so too we will be redeemed again. May we be reunited with the Rebbe and all the tzaddikim, as it says, vekitzu veranenu shochnei afar.

And may it all happen speedily in our days, as we go together to celebrate the Korban Pesach in the Beis HaMikdash HaShlishi, with the coming of Mashiach.

Even on a day marked by deep pain and remembrance of tragedy, we are called to strengthen our emunah, reject despair, and support one another. With hope and trust in Hashem, we continue to yearn and cry out for the coming of Mashiach and the ultimate redemption.

היום, בדברים קצרים, אנו מציינים שיום זה—כ"ז—מרמז על “זך”, כמו “שמן זית זך”. אך יחד עם זאת, זהו יום קשה וכואב מאוד במובנים רבים.

עברו עשרים שנה מכ"ז אדר תשנ"ב, שבו אירע מאורע קשה וכואב לכלל ישראל, לחסידים ולעולם כולו בגשמיות. כמו כן אנו זוכרים טרגדיות נוספות שאירעו, שבהן נרצחו אנשים, ובכללם ילדים צעירים ואנשים העוסקים בתורה ובמצוות, רק מפני היותם יהודים. הם קדושים אמיתיים שמסרו נפשם על קידוש השם.

כאשר אנו לומדים את פרשיות הקרבנות, אנו מדברים על קרבנות מן הבהמה, אך כאן מדובר בבני אדם—והדבר מכביד מאוד על הלב.

עם זאת, אנו יודעים שעלינו להישאר מלאי תקווה ומרוממים ברוחנו. אסור לנו ליפול לייאוש. הייאוש הוא עצת היצר הרע, המבקש להחליש אותנו. עלינו להתחזק באמונה ובביטחון בה', ולחזק זה את זה.

אנו גם נאחזים בהבטחות של הרבי, נשיא הדור, שמשיח עומד על פתחינו—“הנה הנה זה בא”. עלינו לזעוק “עד מתי” בכנות, ולחיות בציפייה ובכיסופים לגאולה.

זהו זמן קשה ומכאיב. עברו שנים רבות ועדיין אנו ממתינים לגאולה השלמה. ואף על פי כן, איננו מפסיקים לקוות.

עוד אנו מציינים כי היום חל גם עשור לחתונתם של גבי ורבקי הולצברג, השלוחים שנרצחו על קידוש השם. אחד הילדים שנרצחו לאחרונה נקרא גבריאל על שמו של גבריאל הולצברג, והקשר הזה מצמרר ומכאיב.

ישנם, לצערנו, רבים המבקשים להזיק לאחרים, ובפרט לעם ישראל. לכן אנו מתפללים ש“לא תקום פעמיים צרה”.

הרבי אמר שלפעמים כאשר הקב"ה בוחר קרבן, הוא לוקח מן המובחרים. כמה מן הטובים שבנו נלקחו, ואנו מתפללים שזו תהיה הפעם האחרונה.

כאשר אנו מתקרבים לחודש ניסן, אנו זוכרים שניסן הוא חודש של ניסים—“ניסי ניסים”. יהי רצון שנזכה לראות רק טוב, חסד ורחמים.

שנזכה לקיום “בניסן נגאלו ובניסן עתידין להיגאל”, ונזכה להיות יחד עם הרבי וכל הצדיקים, “וקיצו ורננו שוכני עפר”.

ויהי רצון שנזכה לכך במהרה בימינו, ונעלה כולנו יחד להקריב את קרבן פסח בבית המקדש השלישי עם ביאת משיח צדקנו.
