הסיום והחשבון של השנה העוברת והכנה טובה לשנה הבאה עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה (ענין – אני לדודי)
והצלחה רבה בכל זה, וכתפלתנו
במזמור הנאמר פעמיים בכל יום
בחודש זה:
שמע
הוי' קולי אקרא וחנני וענני (ענין – ודודי לי),
בודאי שהכנס שיתקיים בשבוע של ר"ח אלול יהי' תואם לשתי הנקודות האמורות, של חשבון-צדק על העבר והכנה וקבלה טובה על להבא, חדורים אור וחיות.
ואף שעבודה גדולה היא – הרי כיון
שנצטווינו
על עבודה זו – ודאי וברור אשר מקודם לזה ניתנו כל היכולת והכח לעשותה בפועל ובמילואה ומתוך שמחה, ואין הדבר תלוי אלא ברצון.
ומסוגל לכל זה חודש אלול במיוחד – כידוע
ביאור
רבנו הזקן בנוגע לאלול: משל למלך שקודם בואו לעיר יוצאין אנשי העיר לקראתו ומקבלין פניו בשדה ואז רשאין כל מי שרוצה לצאת להקביל פניו והוא מקבל את כולם בסבר פנים יפות ומראה פנים שוחקות לכולם.
וכשהמלך בשדה ובסבר פנים יפות, בודאי ששעת הכושר היא להחלטות טובות וגדולות ולהוציאן בפועל בעתן ובזמנן ובמילואן.
ובפרט נשי ובנות ישראל אשר חוננו בתכונות מיוחדות בהנוגע לרגש שבלב, ובמילא בהשפעה מיוחדת בהנוגע לעבודת החודש וכאמור במזמור האמור:

וכמרומז גם בפרשת השבוע של הכנס –
"ולא
יסור לבבו". שהאשה יש לה השפעה מיוחדת על לב בעלה להיות

חכמות נשים בנתה ביתה – כל הבית, אנשים נשים וכל אשר בבית.
ומובן שחינוך הבנות בכיוון זה – צריך להתחיל משחר הילדות.

Shalom u'Vrachah!
The Nshei U'Bnos Chabad conference in our holy land may it be rebuilt by our righteous Moshiach—may Hashem grant them life—blessing and peace!
As we stand to enter the month of Elul—Ani LeDodi VeDodi Li (I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine), the month of conclusion and accounting for the past year and good preparation for the coming year for us and all Israel for good (the idea of "Ani LeDodi")—much success in all this; as we pray in the psalm recited twice daily this month: Shema Hashem koli ekra vechaneni ve'aneni (Hashem, hear my voice when I call; be gracious to me and answer me) (the idea of "VeDodi Li"). Certainly, the conference taking place during the week of Rosh Chodesh Elul will align with these two points: honest accounting for the past and good preparation and acceptance for the future, imbued with light and vitality.
And even though this is a great task—since we have been commanded regarding this work—it is certain that beforehand all ability and strength were given to accomplish it in practice fully and with joy; it depends only on will. The month of Elul is especially suited for all this—as is known from the Alter Rebbe's explanation regarding Elul: a parable to a king who, before entering the city, its people go out to greet him in the field; then anyone who wishes may go out to greet him, and he receives them all with a pleasant countenance and shows a smiling face to everyone. When the king is in the field with a pleasant countenance, it is certainly an opportune time for good and great resolutions—to carry them out practically at their proper time and fully.
Especially Nshei U'Bnos Yisrael who are endowed with special qualities regarding heartfelt emotion—and thus have unique influence concerning this month's service. As stated in that psalm: Lecha amar libi bakshu panai (To You my heart says: Seek My face—meaning inner heart), et panecha Hashem avakesh (Your face, Hashem, I seek); as also hinted at in this week's Torah portion for the conference—velo yasur levavo (that his heart not turn away). A woman has special influence over her husband's heart to be an ezer kenegdo (a helpmate), thereby she is also akeres habayis (mainstay of the home), about whom it is said: Chachmos nashim banta beitah (the wisdom of women builds her house)—the entire house: men, women, and all within. Clearly, educating girls along these lines must begin from early childhood.
May it be Hashem's will that the conference succeeds in all these matters and adds strength to all activities of Nshei U'Bnos Chabad in our holy land and everywhere. May Hashem bless you in all this and everything needed—as it says: Becha Hashem chasiti al evosha le'olam (In You Hashem I take refuge; let me never be ashamed).
