Shalom u'Vrachah!

Haraha"g vavaha"ch vavac"h iy"a nu"n ossek b'tzt"z etc. Mohar"r Hillel Meadalya, the chief rabbi and head of the Jewish community of Antwerp.

Shalom u'Vrachah! I hereby acknowledge receipt of your letter from the month of MarCheshvan and those preceding it. At an auspicious time I will mention all those you referenced at the resting place [of the Rebbe], and may it be G‑d's will that just as you brought your request, so too you will inform me of good news regarding all matters—especially concerning your brother Haraha"ch etc. Harad B., first and foremost.

Regarding what you wrote about the chassidic scribe—it is unclear to whom you refer; in any case, if the books that are about to be published are in the proper spirit—that is, in accordance with Torah and so on—certainly this is appropriate. Especially since unfortunately there is much literature that illuminates (or rather darkens) the Holocaust period by describing the role of Jews who observed Torah and mitzvos in a way that is contrary to the truth, etc., and so forth.

Your reasoning to approach the Conference on Reparations and Compensation regarding printing a memorial book is sound, even though I do not know this year's situation—whether they have a special fund for such a project or if it should be included in another program.

And regarding what you wrote about your birthday: May it be G‑d's will that this year be one of success in both your personal and communal matters together—a year of ascending from strength to strength in all three pillars: Torah study, service [of G‑d], and acts of kindness upon which both the great world and the small world—that is man—stand.

Since you did not mention anything about your health, I wish to presume that all is well—including bodily health—for as ruled by our great teacher Rambam: "Maintaining a healthy and whole body is among the ways of serving Hashem" (Hilchos Deos ch. 4). [I have previously noted elsewhere that in my humble opinion the first copyist omitted one word here; this omission has been perpetuated in subsequent copies. It should read: 'among the ways of serving Hashem' (see there sec. 3)].

With honor and blessing for good news in all the above.

Summary

The Rebbe stresses honest representation when publishing about Jewish history, encourages seeking appropriate support for communal projects, and highlights maintaining both spiritual growth and physical health as essential pillars for personal advancement.
