דער היי-יארדיגער דינער קומט פאר אור ליום חמשה עשר בשבט, ראש השנה לאילנות. דאס אונטערשטרייכט די ספעציעלע פארבינדונג פון דער אונטערנעמונג מיט דעם טאג. ווארום, ווי באקאנט, זאגט די תורה, אז דער מענטש איז גלייך צו א בוים (האדם עץ השדה), וואס דערמיט גיט אונז די תורה א וויכטיגע לערע און אנווייזונג; ספעציעל אין דעם געביט פון חינוך.
ווען דער בוים איז יונג, נאכמער - ווען ער איז נאך אין דער פארם פון א גרעין, א קערנדל, דאן איז יעדע גוטע באהאנדלונג, ווי קליין און מינדערווערטיג זי זאל זיך אויסווייזן, א זאך וואס ווערט מיט דער צייט פארגרעסערט אויף א פילפאכיגען אופן, און די פולע רעזולטאטען קומען צום אויסדרוק אין דעם דערוואקסענעם בוים און אין די פרוכט וואס ער טראגט.
דאס גלייכן איז די פרטיות'דיגע ווירקונג אויף א קינד, אפילו אין א פעולה וואס קאן זיך אויסווייזן אויפן מאמענט אלס גאר א קליינע, אזוי אז מען נעמט איבערטראכטן אויב עס איז גאר כדאי צו לעגען מי און ענערגיע אויף דעם - קען אבער אויך די "קליינע" פעולה פארוואנדלט ווערן אין אן אויסערגעוויינלעך גרויסע און דויערנדע השפעה אין דער טאג-טעגלעכער הנהגה על פי תורה ומצוות. און ווי חכמינו ז"ל זאגן, אז די אמת'ע פירות זיינען די מצוות (מאי פירי - מצוות). דעריבער איז יעדער אנשטרענגונג בארעכטיגט אין דעם שעביט פון חינוך, ווארום דא האנדלט זיך וועגן די גאנצע צוקונפט פון דעם תלמיד און זיין לעבנס-לענגלעכע טובה.
דער מוסר חינוך אהלי תורה איז א מוסד וואו דער דערמאנטער צוגאנג ווערט אויפגעהאלטן און באנוצט לטובת די תלמידים שי'. דער מוסד פארדינט, דעריבער, א ספעציעלע אנשטרענגונג מצד די בעלי-בתים און פריינד צו שאפן די געהעריגע שטיצע פאר דער אויסהאלטונג און אויסברייטערונג פון דעם מוסד, אין כמות און אין איכות.
עס איז צו האפן, אז אלע חובבי תורה ומצוה וועלן זיך ווארים אפרופן אויף דעם הילפס-רוף פון דעם מוסד חינוך אהלי תורה און וועלן געבן זייער שטיצע מיט א ברייטע האנט.
איך שיק מיין באגריסונג און ברכה צו די חשובע געסט און אלע אנטיילנעמער שיחיו.

This year's dinner takes place on the eve of Tu B'Shevat, Rosh Hashanah for trees. This underscores the special connection between this event and the day. As is known, the Torah says that man is compared to a tree (ha'adam etz hasadeh — "man is like a tree of the field"), which gives us an important lesson and directive from the Torah; especially in the area of chinuch (education).
When a tree is young — even more so when it is still just a seed or kernel — every good treatment, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant it may appear at first, becomes greatly magnified over time. The full results are expressed in the mature tree and its fruit.
The same applies to the specific effect on a child: even an action that may seem very small at the moment — so much so that one might question whether it is worth investing effort and energy into it — can also become an extraordinarily great and lasting influence in daily conduct according to Torah and mitzvos.
As our Sages say, true fruits are mitzvos (mai peiri — mitzvos). Therefore, every effort is justified in this field of chinuch because here we are dealing with the entire future of the student and his lifelong benefit.
The institution Chinuch Oholei Torah is one where this approach is maintained and used for the benefit of its students. The institution therefore deserves special effort from householders and friends to provide proper support for its maintenance and expansion — both in quantity and quality.
It is hoped that all lovers of Torah and mitzvah will warmly respond to this call for help from Chinuch Oholei Torah and will give their support with a generous hand.
