במענה למכתבו מעשרה בטבת - יהפך בקרוב לששון ולשמחה - בו כותב ראשי פרקים מדברי ימי חייו, ומסיים בנוגע לשידוך וכו'.
ובכלל בעניני שידוכים צריכים לדייק בהעיקר שתהי' מתאימה למה שכתוב אשה יראת ה' היא תתהלל, ואין לנו עסק בסימנים ורמזים וכו' כאותן שכותבם.
אלא ועיקר הצנור והכלי לקבלת ברכת השם היא הנהגה בחיי היום יומים מתאימה להוראות תורתנו תורת חיים ובקיום מצותי' עליהם נאמר וחי בהם, והוספה בזה, מוסיפה בברכת השם, והרי בעניני טוב וקדושה ככל שלא יהי' המצב גם טוב בזה תמיד יש מקום להוסיף, כיון שקשורים בהקב"ה שהוא אין סופי.
ומהנכון אשר יבדקו את התפילין שלו - אם לא נעשה כזה במשך שנים עשר חדש האחרונים - ובכל יום חול קודם הנחתם להפריש פרוטות אחדות לצדקה, וכן אשר ישמור על התקנה דאמירת השיעור תהלים חדשי - כמו שנחלק התהלים לימי החדש - בכל יום אחר תפלת הבקר.

In response to your letter from the tenth of Teves—may it soon be transformed to joy and gladness—in which you write a summary of your life’s events and conclude regarding a shidduch, etc.
In general, regarding shidduchim, one must be precise about the main thing: that it fits what is written, "Isha Yiras Hashem Hi Tis'halal" (A woman who fears Hashem is to be praised), and we have no involvement with signs or hints as you wrote. Rather, the main conduit and vessel for receiving Hashem’s blessing is conduct in daily life that aligns with the directives of our Torah of life and fulfillment of its mitzvos about which it is said "V’Chai Bahem" (and you shall live by them). Increasing in this adds to Hashem’s blessing. In matters of goodness and holiness—no matter how good things are—there is always room to add because they are connected to Hakadosh Baruch Hu Who is infinite.
It is proper that you check your tefillin—if this has not been done in the past twelve months—and every weekday before putting them on, set aside a few coins for tzedakah. Also, keep the custom of reciting the daily Tehillim portion as divided for the days of the month after morning prayers each day.
