Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to your letter regarding a medical visit—apparently from some time ago—in which the doctor stated that your wife is apparently not able to have children. You do not provide all the details. Since many new medical treatments have been discovered recently, especially in the last few years, it is appropriate to consult again with a specialist in this field and ask whether any of these new developments might apply to your situation.

Since we always need the blessing of Hashem Yisbarach—He who gives the Torah and commands its mitzvos—it is understood that daily conduct should conform to the directives of our Torah of life and fulfillment of its mitzvos about which it is said "v'chai bahem" (and you shall live by them), especially being meticulous in observing the laws and regulations of family purity (niddah, hefsek taharah, immersion in a kosher mikvah, etc.). It is also important to clarify whether there is any lack of knowledge that leads to a deficiency in observance [this should be clarified with a halachic authority], for this is the way to receive Hashem's blessing—especially in such circumstances.

If you write precisely your name and your wife's name along with each mother's name in Lashon HaKodesh—as is customary when mentioning names in prayer—they will be mentioned in prayer as stated above.

Regarding your question about adoption (adaptirung): In most cases, the conduct with an adopted child is such that he is not told he was not born from them; nevertheless, one must treat him exactly as if he were their own child. This can lead to prohibitions regarding hugging and kissing (which are permitted only between biological parents and children—not those who take a child for upbringing). What is brought in sefarim about raising an orphan at home applies only when all the above precautions are strictly observed. This is among the most difficult matters; only when one can be sure to exercise proper caution does the question of adoption arise.

Blessings for good news in all the above.

P.S. My secretariat does not write French; therefore this reply comes in Lashon HaKodesh. However, you may continue writing in French since I read this language.
